Has anyone ever fixed the "left4dead2.exe has stopped working" error?

Anyone here ever successfully solve this problem? I've only been able to fix it by turning my graphics all the way down.

I just installed my new HD 5770 and want to be able to enjoy all it's glorious power.

Ive seen dumb solutions like "delete config file in l4d folder" or "disable multicore rendering" and non of that stuff works. Anyone have a real solution other than turning down my graphics?

My specs: Intel core 2 duo (2.13), HD 5770, 3 gigs ram, antec 500W

Delete all custom maps. Worked for me. If that fixes it, add them back in one by one till you find which one(s) cause(s) the problem

is this the right folder? seems like each map has several files, not sure which ones to delete, any help?

how has this problem been around for so long, and valve never fixed it, seriously.
