I for one hope it doesn't actually happen. Day 1 plants vs zombies dlc to unlock another type of plant would make me weep.

I'm sure they will go the way of westwood studios, origin,...

So.... can we expect popcap games to be removed soon from steam and move to origin?

So somebody who knows a lot of stuff please explain this.
If EA takes any popcap games people own away just to put on Origin, do we get any kind of refund here on Steam? Or do we just get screwed over.

They aren't gonna remove any PopCap games. Just because EA has their Origin doesn't mean they are taking all their games off of other digital distibution services. That myth was debunked a long time ago. Even if they did remove the game, as long as you have it on your PC or backed-up somewhere, you could still play it, anyways.
What will most likley happen is that sometime in the near future, all of PopCap's games will be updated with an EA logo at start-up and/or elsewhere in the game. I've seen this happen with other games as results of mergers.
I have my PopCap games set to "no auto updating" now. I really hate EA and am sadded by the fact that PopCap could sell their souls to them. I never will play ANY game that says "EA" on it and now that means no more new PopCap games for me. I really liked PvZ and if they ever made a sequal or anything else related, it looks like I can't play it. Que Sera, Sera.

I think it's highly unlikely that EA would be so stupid as to pull all PopCap games off Steam and make their digital sales Origin-exclusive. However, if they did do that, people who bought them on Steam would still be able to download them from Steam forever, it's in the Steam purchase agreement, and EA can't overrule that.

I think captain is right, the games will stay on your steam list and be able to download them again, just no one will be able to purchase it anymore.
