Downloaded this last week.
Tried today and game was running fine apart from i couldnt get it running in anything above DX8 so i attempted to validate the files incase anything was missing.

I was told there was 71 files missing and being re-downloaded.
after half an hour 3.5Gb had been downloaded(quite a lot for some missing files).

Started game again and tried to use -dx9 after shortcut but still only DX8 in-game.:(
Anyway i came out of game and tried to validate game files again but its downloaded another 3.5Gb after files were found missing....again!

What is it thats going on here with this game?
I mean....just how big is this game supposed to be? so far its downloaded over 10Gb...is this supposed to happen?

Apart from excessive bandwidth usage with this problem i have just explained...i think i quite like this game and was looking for something just like this thats not got a monthly subscription.

Any news yet on how to run in DX9 or above? ive never actually run a game in anything below DX9 before :)

Anyone else having problems with having to re-download files?

Seems like you have the same problem as I.

Word of advice:
DO NOT verify/validate your game cache via Steam.
It seems the Steam server's cache currently only have version 0.62.0.

After you've installed and starts the game for the first time, the game install update patches via PerfectWorld to its latest version (version 0.74.0 - Yes, 12 patches in total the last time I've checked).

You should be able to proceed and run the game after all the patches have been installed.

However, when you try to re-validate the files via Steam, my guess is that it does some sort of checksum comparison of the files on their server (v0.62.0)....which doesn't matches what's on your machine (v0.74.0) -> Hence, the re-download of a bunch of old files (v0.62.0).

Thanks for your reply, just after i posted this i managed to find some other cases about this online, seems this is happening to quite a few people and your exactly correct its caused by validating the files:o

Just a notice, Perfect World only produce their games in DX8 for some reason. I must say however they are very decent graphics for DX8!

Check my reply on the other thread about this issue. This is VALVe's fault, it should be only a small patch, but you know VALVe, they just can't make anything right.
