Mele combat

Wondering if anyone could post some tips for successful mele combat.

I am finding i am getting it handed to me far too often and that blocking doesn't seem to do much good.

I have a feeling that the mele combat is more advanced than it suggests on the surface.

I found that too when I played melee. Personally I play ranged in this game all the time. I would guess you need to use your skills a lot and make sure to evade when possible and block/upgrade shield as much as possible.

You need to master the blocking and countering system. Another thing is pick off the ranged units first with your ranged weapon. Trying to melee a guy while being shot in the back by archers is difficult.
