Cannot save and constantly get the cd-key screen

I purchased this game a few days ago, and it is currently unplayable. I can launch the game and configure the settings, even play the game for a few hours, but when I close the game nothing saves. Next time I open the game, all of my saves are gone, and all the options are reset.Also, The option to play in windowed mode does nothing when checked off. I've re installed this game many many times now and tried every sort of launch option I can think of. Sometimes after these re installs the game will not get past the cd-key screen where my key will not work. This then leads to another re install where none of my issues are fixed.

A bunch of things, I'll try and break down my responses;

- CD Key. It has worked before, clearly the program recognizes the key. Somehow Steam is loosing the key. That one I'll have to go through Steam support to resolve. If we resolve everything else here and you don't have to keep uninstalling/reinstalling hopefully one good install will keep you going.

- Windowed mode; you need to restart the game to change graphics settings. Also, if you don't change your resolution to something different than your default screen resolution it will just "snap" to full screen.

- Savegames; I've had one other report of this on the Paradox forums but this is a relatively new one. I've installed the game on my system and had no problems with the savegame folder. Try unchecking the Save to "my Games" folder and see if specifying a location works better (My Options - Player Options - Files). Sounds like Windows is having problems with the folder location which is both annoying and ironic. To be sure it's working, go in game and make a save, then call up the load screen. Do you see your file there?

Thanks for the quick reply. I've tried using the other save location but the problem remains. I can save and load a game during one session, but once I exit program the save file is gone and the game will show no saves next time I play. I tried saving during one session and alt-tabbing after I loaded to see if I could find the file somewhere, but nothing showed up.

try making a savegame with a notable name like "findsr2020file.sav" then try searching windows for the location.

As mentioned, we've not really had reports of this so I'm shooting in the dark here.
