Ok, I KNOW there are lots of thread about this already, I checked them pretty much all, and I did pretty much everything said, but the game STILL doesn't want to start.
I did the "Can you run it" check up and everything passes. But when I try to run the game, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then closes. I use a laptop.
Things we tried :
-Updating my graphic card
-checking if it was related to the sound
-Closing everything else
-Verifying the game cache/Defragmenting cache file
-Disactivating my anti-virus
-Uninstalling/Reinstalling the game (obviously)
-Don't remember if we tried anything else...
Edit: Skip to my next post.
--------------------------------
"Can you run it" is very often to kind. As GeForce 8800 is MINIMUM required graphics. Can You Run It seams to assume it's "recommended" and again assumes graphics quite below this also can run the game.
In short, for a serious answer, we need your DXdiag, like this (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=21236866&postcount=6).
Also any "errorreport***.txt" you can find.
More how-to and stuff here (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1785928).

Laptop?
Oh dear, you had this for a long time!?
I'm having the same problem (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=20733050#post20733050). I don't have any error message, but the screen goes black for a few seconds and then it's back to desktop, and I can't play. My graphic card is an Nvidia Geforce GT 420M and I'm not good with computers so I don't know what to check and such... I do know some people have difficulties playing on laptops, and that's what I have so I don't know if it could be the reason.....but it would be really bad since it's my first time buying a game from Steam and it just doesn't work.
Could you at least tell us what brand and model your laptop is.
Also, search the partition ( C:\ ? ) you have the game installed on for "error*.txt". Remove the "" when searching.
Just so we can confirm there's no error report after all.
I'm quite sure your laptop can handle Magicka with a proper setup.

You have seen this thread, right ? If not, do now !
