I am building a mage I am between golemancy or smithing. Of course I prefer golemancy unless there are a lot of cool stuff to be forged

Smithing isnt really good for a mage character.

You will be able to make armor and weapons. But the ones you can make are not useful for mage characters unless you are planning on being a hibrid.

OK I am going with staves, prothean magic, mathemagic, ley walker, alchemy, and blood mage. I decided against golemancy because you can summon a dragon with prothean anyway.

Without Smithing, the ingots and ores in the game will be largely useless. But, as mentioned, you'll have no use for the smithed items, unless you level smithing up enough for stuff like the Mana Torus (silver ring + sapphire + something? + mana potion, level 4 smithing)
