My personal rule is that any game called "Cthulhu saves the world" is automatically worth it.

Considering the cost, Cthulhu says you have nothing to lose.
Have a sniff round the thread in general discussion, this thread, and the various links and trailers within. Then choose.
Personally I think its awesome because A) its a game based on Lovecraftian mythology, Cthulhu and the unlikely position he finds himself in as a hero.
B) Its very cheap, C) It takes a lot of inspiration from the older 16bit rpg games on the snes for example, D) It parodies these games in places and actually does it well - I actually laughed a lot on my first play through, not many games do that these days, E) Its an indie title from a small -think around 3 people- group of developers new to the Steam platform who updated an existing successful game for the PC players, participate in these discussions and have thus far shown more respect to us as players than many big companies as many indie devs do.
And F) I personally enjoy supporting small indie teams for that reason but they have also seen fit to include another game within that £1.79 purchase. G) If you like Lovecraft, rpgs, parodies of rpgs, original story, and heaps of extra value and replayability or any of the above its a safe purchase. If you like more than two of the above esp lovecraft stories you will be in heaven and delighted with the amazing value and a very happy bunny.
What have you to lose? Its £1.79, see what all the fuss is about ;)

How come topics like this keep popping up on the cheaper games forums? How come no one questions the worth of games that cost 40 or 50 euro? But there's always many ppl who ask such questions if a game costs <5euro...
When in reality those "triple-A titles" with uber marketing and stuff are mostly cr**, and the small indie games for 1/10 of the price of the big studio games are easily worth much more than they cost.

This game is worth way more than the price it's being sold for. WAY MORE. It's very entertaining.

Seconding the user above. I've laughed my rear off playing this game. It's definitely an affectionate parody, made by someone who loves Lovecraft and old games.

Cus, some "Special" people think graphics = quality. A ♥♥♥♥ty game like CoD that has less gameplay then monkey island 1, is worth the 60 bucks because it looks oh so pretty~~ But a game that cost 5 euro's and looks like asssssss (not neccesarely (however you write that word) my opinion.) because the dev decided to go for an old RPG style artwork isnt possibly worth the money and should be free.
Ps. They could also be trolling. Because the smaller community of indie games are usually very protective of the game and will jump in anyone's throat that say bad things about it.

I bought them because the Cthulhu trailer made me laugh. The "Breath of Death" made me groan hard at the, most likely intentional, BAD Dragon Quest / Breath of Fire style character design. I did not like those games, but you got my $2.69. I hope the writing is as good as folks are saying.
What really sold me on the Cthulhu was the subtitle... when I got to "FES," I lost it! XD

I'll be honest as I can.
Don't buy the game, on its own, buy it with Breath of Death VII.
Both are truly outstanding, funny, and brilliant and an incredible price. In fact, stop reading opinions, get both already.

I don't even think it's possible to buy either game on its own (on Steam, anyway). If you click each individual game page it still shows the pack as the only buy option.
Anyway, yeah, I think it's worth it. A mere 3 bucks for two entertaining RPGs. I know what you mean about having a huge backlog, but still, you really have nothing to lose. Do you like oldschool RPGs? That's what you really need to ask yourself. And if the answer is yes, then you'll find this well worth a low $3.
Really enjoying the game so far. Really happy with the purchase. I even feel a little bad because it was so cheap for the pack. Oh well!

I will tell you that this continues to reinforce my belief the cheaper games are more addicting. At this point, after buying a ton of games from the sale, the ones I have spent the most time with are this and Terraria. Definitely worth it.

I'm willing to bet that I have a larger backlog (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197996495980/games?tab=all) than you, and I'm playing this game right now :)
