Steam Backup and restore

Hi,

I have to format and re install windows so i am backing up my installed steam games,

will this also backup my game save files?
If it doesn't how can i back up my save files?

Steam backs up the files as specified in the NCFs. This doesn't include saves or settings unless these are stored via the cloud.
