Way to tell merc levels at the map screen?

I'm playing with the modifier that allows you to get multiple types of the same squad throughout the game, but I cant see what level the available mercs are.

How do I tell what levels I might/might not be able to handle with given a loadout? Atm it seems as If I have go by the lowest level mercs of that type on my whole roster, which given the time it takes to acquire all 7 means I'm stuck going based on level 1 squads for the majority of the game.

Try using the arrow in the upper left corner to view the merc roster. It shows experience at the top of the page and abilities at the bottom. You can also rename mercs when you get them if it's too hard to keep track of the default names.
