Hello,

Since a recent update (a week ago?), I've been unable to keep the web browser open for more then a few seconds, or as soon as I start moving the mouse around on the web page. This happens for multiple games (tried css, l4d2, etc). I reinstalled steam and video drivers and it still happens

I open a web page, start moving my mouse around. It will disappear, then come right back then disappear completely so I have to re-shift tab.

It's even hard to close the browser window because once I start moving my mouse to go the the X to close, it disappears on me.

I looked at the in game log and it has tons of these:

Mon Jul 18 00:33:26 2011 UTC - Overlay disable requested by game
Mon Jul 18 00:33:27 2011 UTC - Overlay enable requested by game

Mon Jul 18 00:33:38 2011 UTC - Warning: Game claims to have rendered, but render stream is not empty.

Mon Jul 18 00:33:38 2011 UTC - Warning: Game claims to have rendered, but render stream is not empty.

As you can tell thats all within 10 seconds of me trying to close the browser window

Anyone have any ideas? Google and searching this forum comes up with nothing. Like I said, I reinstalled steam, video drivers, and tried in multiple (verified) games...

Thanks
kevin

FYI with today's steam update and CSS/L4D2 updates, it still does it. It makes the browser more than useless. Happens in borderlands as well.

I have made 0 changes to my system.. no new programs etc. The update before this last one definitely caused it. There has to be a reason why it is going nuts like that.

Guess i can just uninstall/reinstall everything..

A complete reinstall of steam/games/etc proved worthless. Still happens.

I re read my thread and I should mention that if I sit there with a webpage open it is fine. If I move the mouse or the page is loading, it goes psycho and starts flashing then disappears.

You can start with this...

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9394-YOFV-0014

then, if that doesn't work, continue with this...

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9828-SFLZ-9289

and if that doesn't work either, try contacting Steam Support (https://support.steampowered.com/newticket.php)!

What graphics card and processor do you have? If they are too old the steam in game ui might be too much for 'em.

Just saw you bumped my thread opvedy. Never found a solution after reinstalling steam, all games, vid drivers, etc. :(

pokedex: i've got a 460gtx and an E6750 on Win7-64... more than enough to run the above games. It definitely happened after an update, it was fine before. Doubt it is hardware related.

edit: and dont run any software on the known conflict list

Today's big update seemed to fix the issue, valve must have found and fixed the bug!

I'm having this issue as well. Might be NOD32, but I don't understand why, it worked flawlessly even though my PC is crap.
Pentium D @ 3.4 Ghz
1.5 GB RAM
Radeon 4550 HD
I just want facebook when I'm waiting for the next round on CSS.
