Anyone know if the weapon "The Ripper" is exclusive for pre order? or is a normal unlock in the game?

Thanks:)

I (hope I) got confused by the pre-order bonuses. did the advert say you only get online co-op if you pre-order? if so I can see this company being the next capcom in with holding the game on the disk only available as first day dlc or pre purchase bonus o.O come on the game isn't released yet already dlc has been made there's no excuse for not implementing that weapon in the game. I hope I read it wrong (was 2am)

yeah I wrong it was co-op for that particular DLC... still it isn't really fair to hold it back from people who buy it one day after release

Honestly I hate it when companies start planning DLC before the game, or during development. And pre-order content should NOT be in the form of a weapon, it shouldn't have anything to do with the game at all that differentiates it from a non-pre-order version.

I may not even buy this game due to the fact that it has DLC because I will NEVER purchase dlc content that isn't in the form of a total conversion ala BFBC2's Vietnam pack.

I don't want this to be like COD Black ops, where if you don't buy the DLC like everyone else, you're left with playing the game with only 1/10th of the community if that. Which means difficult to find COOP matches as well as lag.

I thought it was the dumbest thing ever. I mean, starting you off with a weapon like that?

Then I remember the developers sold out when they completely changed the direction this game was headed to.

100% THIS! You nailed it when you brought up Battle Field. It's like a new game for $15 instead of a few maps.

You don't start with it, you start with the tools to make it. But, if you, like me, find it to be a dumb weapon. Just don't make it.

I plan on going the realism route with my weapons, the only one I'll buy into is that C4 throwing knife. That is just too cool.

Well said, I stopped pre ordering some time ago, so I will not get the same full game as those who pre ordered.
But I have gotten used to it by now, just wait for it to hit the bargain bin 3 months later, then you are paying less money for a gutted game, instead of the same money as those who got the full game, wich is a fair deal, if its good then it will be good 3 months later also, if its crap then at least I didnt throw money at it blindly like some pavlovian puppy :)

new trend among developers seem's to be to cut out content from game and release it as day 1 DLC.

I agree except it's not that new a trend, everybody does it these days :*(

You do realise retailers be it brick and mortar or online (you know which ones) bully the publishers for this stuff right?

Well Bethesda sold missing content from Oblivion as DLC but they waited a few weeks so it didn't seem like they were withholding it. Of course when you're selling a DLC that adds the room behind a locked door that was in the retail game to start with it's pretty blindingly obvious that it was planned for from the start. I guess the fact that Bethesda got away with it scot free and made a killing while they were at it was sort of a cue to try things even more brazen, and now we have pre-release-day DLC.

Still no answer, i know the dlc DLC Bloodbath Arena will be available one month later after release, so people who dont pre order the game can buy it.

But what about the weapon "the ripper", wich is a pre-order bonus on steam.

Can we still get it if we didnt pre order the game? is it a normal unlock, craft? or pre ordering is the only way to get this weapon.

Thanks.

Usually that stuff is exclusive for a couple of months then they sell it as DLC. Look at Just Cause 2, Test Drive Unlimited 2 etc.
