I can't see any way to speed it up past 75, I claim shannanigans. I tried this for maximum speed

but it was even worse. I can't see any way to improve on doing it parallel.

I think the leaderboard is most likely misleading. The histogram probably means some people have 'between 50 and 100 cycles' or similar, and so when you're plotted at 75 it looks like there are people faster than you. But there aren't.

The histogram can indeed be misleading. Checking on SolutionNet (http://spacechem.net/), which has clearer graphs, shows that it's something like 480 people in the 40-79 range (http://spacechem.net/solution-stats/an-introduction-to-bonding) as of this writing.

SolutionNet leaderboards will often have the fastest/cheapest possible solutions as well, so that is a better way to check if you've got the minimum compared to the in-game graphs.
