Seriously I cannot believe this.
50€ in europe
50$ in USA
and freaking 30$ in Russia
You gotta be kidding me?? WHY are you doing this deepsilver?? YOU ARE A GERMAN PUBLISHER. WHY do you have to screw europe the most? You are from europe! Argh this is unbelieveable. I won't pay >70$ for a game are you insane? -.- Y can't at least an european publisher do fair pricing for europe?
Can someone tell me all this is a joke? A german publisher screwing over europe the most? Why on gods earth does every developer in the world think europeans should pay 1/3 more? This is rediculous...
The game itself looks quite promising but 50€ preorder? not even a discount? ...

I think it's most likely because europe charges high VAT (value added tax).

nobody are going to pay 50$ for a game in russia...
and well, 50€ is ridiculous too, yes

UK doesnt even have a price.
Its not up to valve/steam the price is set by the publisher, so blame them.
AeneasXI
07-26-2011, 10:49 PM
I never blamed valve for this
I blame Deep Silver. They are from europe even! How can their screw their own people the most? rediculous and makes me mad!
Even american developers can do proper pricing (i.e. Tripwire, Valve) why can't Deep Silver?...

if you make less then 500 a month since im assuming thats what your talking about you shouldnt be gaming in the first place now if thats weekly still about average and slightly above. since in the us minimum wage is a joke in most states and is enough to say get you through highschool still living with your parents.

well lets assume your living alone on a very limited budget and have other things to pay for first such as rent food and utilites. you may drive a car since most people do then you add on insurance for the vehicle and gas now after all thats done and paid for you probably dont have any money or barely enough to even by a game.
i lived on a limited budget for awhile and i was using an old below par computer and basically played css and that was it, never bought new games or a new rig since i never had the extra expenditure to do so. i spent my money on food and rent with utilities and walked to my job since it wasnt far at all.
simply if someones making say 500 usd or even 500 euros a month you shouldnt waste money on non essential items ever. and games are a luxury item you do not need them to live.
Oh wow... Who are you to tell someone what is essential and what is not?
Etherfast
07-27-2011, 01:34 PM
I know people who took credit lines from banks so they could buy expensive cars they can't afford to put gas in.
Everyone spends their money as they want to. But common sense dictates you should buy stuff you actually afford.
That's how it goes.

he meant europe issn't as rich as you think. Western europe yes, but eastern europe definately is not rich. And only because they aren't part of a country they shouldnt play computergames therefore? You sir are ignorant!
Also only because some country is considered "rich" doesn't mean it should pay 30% more than any other country. this is just rediculous.
It is ok to make it cheaper in some countries but it is not ok to make it even MORE expensive for others

Oh wow... Who are you to tell someone what is essential and what is not?
so food, clothes, water, electricity and a house are not considered essential then? while im sure you could live on the streets with out these i doubt you'll be playing video games with out a house, electricity, clothes, and water. those are essential thats were your money shoudl go and always go to first not the newest video game these are basic human needs and you need them to live thats a fact not my own personal opinion. video games, cars, even bikes and animals are luxuries you dont need them.
and on the subject of price australia gets it worse then anyone else paying somewhere from 80$ to 130$ for games in there standard non special forms so go figure. games in mexico at retail stores cost 100$ usd for newer ones so go figure, europe doesnt have it that bad.

Please keep in mind that the European price is INCLUDING VAT. While the USD price (in the states) is WITHOUT the sales tax, which is diffrent from state to state.
Don't know about the russian taxes though.

Price localization is epic fail on parts of all these companies. It's outright stupid to charge the same amount in Euros as it is in dollars, when the amount should be changed to match the US price. Not just arbitrarily priced as it is. This is one reason why piracy is out of control in Europe and China, failed price localization. The game is literally not worth the price.

Wow that made me laugh alot and for a long time. I live in eastern Europe and I earn around 300 EURO which is considered a almost decent income. I know ppl that earn less than this so if this 4000 EURO was true I woulod have bought everybody in this thread this game.
Although it seems a bit low paycheck , here is considered ok, I mean u can pay the monthly bills ( elctricity, gas, phone, etc. ) and after u do this u are left with somewhere between 120 - 150 Euros if u are carefull.
Sure, maybe u can't buy all that u need because let's face it 300 Euros, not so much, but it's not like u have a choise...

Russia gets cheap stuff because they are kind of poor nation (except a few parts). in general people there can't afford to spend a lot of money on something like gaming so that is why game are cheaper there.

Agree with OP, why would I pay 50€ on steam when most stores here (sweden) has the physical game for 30€ with free shipping?
I see no point in this. :/
Well, 4000 Euro as minimum wages is a bit high. I am a police officer. I earn about 4500 euro a month, about 6400 American dollars a month. There are people who earn less than that.
UK doesnt even have a price.
Its not up to valve/steam the price is set by the publisher, so blame them.
No, valve released portal 2 for 49.99euro..
I can understand that Russia is getting games cheaper. They pirate all of the games because they earn very little but ARE AMERICANS POOR? In europe we can buy these games for 30euro often with free shipping and a physical dvd while at steam it's 49.99euro. Are our shops not paying the taxes? :)
Steam is stupid and only helps scammers that resell cdkeys.

most of it goes away in taxes as well as much higher cost of living :)
Thats the good thing about the US, higher salaries, less taxes, lower cost of living :D
I know since I am a former european. Everything except some fresh foods (like veggies and fruits) is quite a bit more expensive in Europe.

Find Dead Island in Europe for 49.99 euro in a retail store :)
It has nothing to do with taxes. Taxes can't be 1$=1€ in every european country. That's just steam being lazy and scamming us. On the summer sales we can buy games for the original price in the US :D Very kind of them..

And for your reference, Australia doesn't use US dollars.

Average price for a PC game in the UK is £29.99. Some are £24.99 and the most anticipated games such as Skyrim are normally £39.99
I will be getting the standard edition so i expect to pay no more than 30 pounds! if its any more then i might have to reconsider waiting for a bit.

I think it's most likely because europe charges high VAT (value added tax).
\No european country charges 20 bucks on taxes ok.
but its ok i pre-ordered elsewhere for 40 bucks US :-)
It can be activated on steam anyways.
PS: on the nuclear dawn forum developers already let us know steam lets developers choose to either use the same number disregarding the valuta, or if they want to sell it for the correctly converted price. so theres really no excuses left.

Some people are saying that russia gets the games cheaper because they are poorer. Now thats the most stupid thing I heard in a while.
So why south america and africa get the same prices or even higher?
according to that logic a game thats 50 in the us and 30 in russia , should be 20 in south america and 10 in africa. But in south america the price is higher that the us but lower than europe.
I think that you all have to stop whining
