confused about saving, multiplayer always starts at very first mission

so for every multi player game i start it begins in the
red tunnel where you pick up the gun. the very first thing.

how do i get it to start somewhere else?
we made it further in multi and it did the same thing.

whats the deal with this master of fate or whatever?
he says come back to me to save the checkpoint etc,
but after leaving the portal i can't find him again.

Hello,
The Master of Fate is a sort of Game Master. He is the one who keeps the saves and progress. Each time the Master of Fate steps through the portal, the game resumes where he stopped before. Each time a new Master of Fate is selected, the game starts over if this person never played as the Master of Fate before.

However, if the Master of Fate is always the same person and if you always start the game in the cave, then there is a save bug. To solve this, the Master of Fate must run the game as an Administrator. We are currently fixing this bug.
