Ok I really liked the game but there are some issues. The game itself felt... Amaetuerish in a lot of regards. Not saying that is bad but just some suggestions for the next project. All of these are design issues focusing on singleplayer and not technical since that is just coding problems or conflicting stuff. SPOILERS!
1)If you are going to put in no saves don't force us to platform. The ending part of the master path where you have to jump that ledge to get into the cave where you confront the Commander caused me to die twice. I went from having no wounds to having 4.
2)Hire a translator. I understand localization is expensive but there are some glaring issues with this. Supra.. Come on guys. Not much else to say because it was probably a budget issue.
3) Try to form a tighter narrative or flesh out the world more. At the ending I had absolutely no idea what was going on. The universe is awesome but you need to give the player stuff to go on besides just a few pieces of dialog in the library and the few people you talk to. Add NPCs who talk when you are near them or something like that.
4) Add women if at all possible. Maybe I missed this but the game had a Gothic going on where everyone in the game is a man. Not a huge issue since you probably wanted to reuse assets as much as possible but just throwing it out there that a little variety goes a long way.
5) Add a map feature please. Levels are very big and it is easy to get lost.
Ok now that the bad is out of the way here are most of the things I liked.
1) The universe. This is a seriously awesome universe you have from art direction to the few conflicts I could piece together to the armor design. A little work and experience will make for a great sequel.
2)Gunplay. I have yet to see an FPS/RPG with these tight of controls and maintain the mix. Borderlands and Dark Messiah for example were too light on RPG elements.
3)Customization. Huge fan of all the options you put in to make characters completely different. Went for a commando type class and it worked out perfectly. As I went through the game I saw options for the other archetypes.
4) Level design. While the levels are a bit maze-like it was very well done in general. Multiple paths and ways to do things reminds me of Deus Ex which is never a bad thing in my book.
5)Difficulty. STALKER was the last FPS that actually offered a challenge that wasn't artificial. Simple things like hacking were made difficult by no pausing while in the screen.
6) Ambition. Any developer going for a huge project like this gets my praise because you don't see enough of it. This is actually the reason I'm posting, usually I keep my thoughts on a title to myself since I'm really picky but the foundation is here for something better then Deus Ex.
Hope that helps the developers and anyone looking for a sort of review.
