Hi. I just downloaded Medieval II Total War from steam and after 11 hours of downloading i tried playing it.
When i started the game and pressed "Play" the screen then went black, and a second later an error came up reading "Fatal Graphics Error." Its the same error that is described in many other posts on this forum.
The reason i'm writing this is because i actually cant find a definite solution to the problem listed in the other threads.
My computer is more than capable of running this game, and my basic specs are:
Windows 7
DirectX is up to date
From what i understand, Windows 7 is not listed as a compatible operating system with this game, and another problem i've heard about is that this game will only operate with a specific version of DirectX installed. I've also read that a file in the game must be altered in order to play it, but i have never been told exactly how this is done.
Seeing as how i am not tech savvy, can someone please explain to me in "English" how i can fix this problem and start playing what looks like an excellent game?
Personally i think its pretty stupid that Steam would sell a game that requires this kind of modification in order to run it. Especially since i've seen computers both more and less advanced than mine run it perfectly fine.
PLEASE help. I've been looking for a game like this for a very long, long time.
