You see, I always wanted to try the Warhammer 40k series, the story behind seems very compelling, and Space Marine being an action looks like I will enjoy a lot, but, I never know where to start, the games (at least from an outside point of view) always seem to be the continuation of a story, and I never wanted to start where the wheels were already turning, so please recommend a start point.
But, being on topic on these particular forums, I would like to know if Space Marine will be anything like Darksiders, the fact that they are both connected on the pre-sale intrigued me, and I liked Darksiders, solid game, plus made me nostalgic for the Soul Reaver series.
Thanks for any replies.

Darksiders is published by THQ as well, thought they would throw it into Space marines to bump more pre-sales I suppose.
WH 40k: Space marine will have a stand-alone story from the other WH40k Games (Dawn of War) so you won't have to worry about being completely confused. If you'd like to know more about the lore of 40k Go here: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Main_Page

You can start by reading books: http://www.blacklibrary.com/
They are really great.
++ DCS << Has already given the link to learn about the lore.

By the loooks of it, it will.

Space Marine is a warrior who doesn't need cover and is good in ranged and close combat (espicially close). So yeah, cut, crush and slay orks!

In addition to the lexicannium, http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Warhammer_40k_Wiki also has some pretty detailed information on the lore, whereas lexi is mostly focused on the tabletop and relevant information for that.

TV Tropes has a great page on Warhammer 40k. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Warhammer40000)
I recommend you read it, it's a great introduction.

just curious how the game will play, will we be able to run it? and will we be able to customize our keyboards? this looks like a very fun game, hoping it will be a fresh breath from all the other typical shooters out now.

It's not really a shooter (from what I've seen and heard of it). More like hack n' slash.
