View Full Version : Summoned monster AI needs serious work.

I don't expect the summoned monsters to be the most tactically brilliant creatures out there. I'm fine with them being stupid, but they're TOO stupid.

The only summon I've used to date is the Summoned Wyrmling. It has a horrible tendency to 'lock on' to an enemy it wants to kill and ignore all other enemies at any cost. That means if the enemy it is 'locked on' to is out of sight (behind a door, blocked off by other enemies, what have you) the wyrmling will simply sit there and do absolutely nothing as its HP is slowly whittled down.

Easy fix: Just have it target the nearest hostile creature, so if something is adjacent to it, it attacks that enemy instead of chasing down some slime on the other side of the room for no good reason.

Read the latest blog Post on their official website and it has a current fixed list for the next patch and this is addressed in the next patch.

I'm sorry, but I just read that blog entry and I can't seem to find where they said the addressed the AI. Could you copy/paste it for me? :(

"Pets occasionally just act like idiots. In particular, they need better targeting, the ability to lose targets, and the ability to switch targets dynamically."

In the future be sure to check all posts that are patch related and when he mentions a list of issues click
CONTINUE TO THE FULL STORY
Which will expand the blog entry to it's full post.

In addition to that, they will also improve their AI, so that your pet will move when you click it, rather than having you attack your lovely little Moustache Golem pet.

I thing a great fix for this would be having your pet always try to be in one of the squares diagonal to you instead of next to you.
