I have seen lots of threads saying there is a patch coming out. I completely believe there is a patch. My question is when? I'm sure there isn't a set date, but has there been an estimate?

I would like to get this game, but having read the forums and seen the bugs, I think I would rather wait for the patch.

A Patch is coming, it was said monday, but the developers encountered more problems and bugs that theyīve imagined, so the patch was delayed to include as many fixes as possible (no eta yet)

I would rather have more patches with several fixes, than one big patch with everything known now.

I agree, its more important to fix crit bugs and release it as quick as possible, because a lot of them breking the hole game.

Hello,
I'm sorry we couldn't release the patch earlier.
We have fixed a very massive amount of bugs and issues, but some still remain. We are having a hard time completely fixing the 32bit systems crashes, but we are making good progress and we are confident we will be fixing it very soon.

Again, we apologize for all this and we'd like to thank you for your patience.

Thats good to hear, but people's patience are running low - with all its fairness. Game is unplayable right now.

I find it quite playable currently, despite its bugs, completed it twice as is.
Then again, I don't have a 32 bit system, so yea.

If it was a beta it would be acceptable.

Just one of many reasons I always tell people to get drop their old OS and go with Win 7 64bit. Can't wait for the patch. I have a friend that swears he'll buy it once the patch is out. I'll even pick up another copy for my younger brother who is a Steam junkie but lacks the funds that I have...he he. How about some preliminary patch notes to keep us busy?

I support this idea !

Likely the 32 bit crash was one of the first noticed and therefore first started on. The rest of the issues were largely trivial by nature and quickly corrected and commited to whatever source control they are using.
Due to the likely overlap with many areas of the code, the 32-bit fix is too widespread to release a patch with the small fixes.

Based on those assumptions, as soon as the 32-bit fix is developed/tested we will have a patch and then the cycle will begin anew! Then I believe there is a several hour delay from when data is turned over to steam and steam rolling out the patch.

If the patch resolves most of the issues i've seen/heard I know i'm going to drop a mention to most of my shadowrun buddies (the tabletop, not the xbox game).

Just push out the fixes you have. Major patches are nice but a couple of 'minor' patches will get people wanting patches off your back.

Sad, but I still hope the patch hits today or tomorrow, because next week 1.06 of Terraria hits and it would be shame if E.Y.E. gets buried underneath it.

I have to say, at least skacky responds to threads like this. Says a lot for the studio was a whole, at least in my eyes. I have a LOT more patience with these indie devs and usually find their games to be way more appealing to me than most of the big studio stuff.

That said, I can't wait for this patch. I've quit even trying to play, it's just too frustrating an experience right now.

I'm wondering if they could include an option for an alternative, easier-to-read font with the patch. It's really eye-straining (pardon the pun) at lower resolutions.

Indeed, that's one of the big reasons Tripwire is one of my favorite developers (they made Killing Floor & Red Orchestra). They keep in constant touch with their customers, and dedicate a person just to looking at forum threads and running PR. It's good to see this developer went to the same business school as them. ;)

@rehsarht: I can only agree with both things.

skacky is a gem and I love when devs keep in touch with the comm, thats one reason why I recommend E.Y.E. to my friends

And indie games are just pure fun, at least the ones I play and this is directly connected to what I mentioned before

@sole21000: hopefully the font will be changed, I donīt play on low res but itīs still very hard to read sometimes, esp. in dialogues when thereīs a source of light behind the dialogue box.

I just hope it fixes the massive lag in co-op. Its completely preventing me and my friends from playing the game together, and we don't really want to go it alone.

Other then that the only bugs I've personally encountered were spawning inside of eachother once, a crash now and then when alt-tabbing, and being unable to research unless restarting the game sometimes.

This made me facepalm so hard
Guys, these people are indie developers, they are currently trying their best to give you the game enjoyment they had in plan, other big companies would keep you on hold for more months, while this guys made a newspost that a patch is coming in between several days.
But they are indie developers, and they want to show you that they mean it serious with fixing stuff, that's why they will try to fix as many stuff as possible.
Bringing out thousands of small patches is not a good coverage at all.

Patience guys, I waited for this game for more than a year, so I think you can wait a week or more for a patch which fixes just problems :)

SolidFake, I don't really appreciate your undermining my post. I was simply asking a question, and despite the problems I have (crashes and the "can't change equipment" bug), I don't mind waiting a little more, as I fully understand the difficulty of releasing that big a patch with limited resources.

Just thought I'd clear that up.

PS : Plus, I'm also French, so my solidarity is all the more strong.

Thank you very much skacky for keeping us updated. I'd like to know if you have a changelog somewhere or something to let us know the progress of this patch?

I can wait, but patching this pretty soon would cure alot of headaches.

If anything I would have released the patch in two phases, one for bugs, one for 32bit crashes. Frequent patching keeps the community involved, no?

I'm sorry, it might have looked a tad too strong for correlating your post with another (rather dumb) post.
It just sounded like "ye, the announcement is fine and all, but that's just not enough.
Thanks for clearing that out, I appreciate it if people reply to me in such a friendly way :)

Hm... maybe Iīm wrong or just terrible impatient, but I appreciate the gesture of posting an update by skacky but not its content, because itīs basically saying that the patch could have been released earlier, even if not everything is included, but it wasnīt released earlier.

Iīm lucky, because I can play normally (with all the bugs everyone has), but some people canīt, their characters got "downleveled" or they cannot even play the game.

Esp. the last one is just rough, I never experienced such a thing, but if I buy a game and itīs not working and itīs not my fault, I would wait, but not long, and with not long I mean a week.

To get me right, I absolutely understand that indie devs work extremely hard on their stuff, and beta is mostly not an option due to illegal moves, so I can accept the fact that these games have problems at start (I mostly play indie games) but I cannot accept the fact that someone could have released the patch earlier but didnīt because of the big picture.

And consider those two things:

18 Euro / 15 Ģ isnīt that lowprized for an indie game, maybe in $. (even if I think the game is worth the money)

How would you feel if you buy something else and it doesnīt work after a week so you donīt know if you will actually love it or not?

PS: I canīt stand that "soon" "very soon" stuff anymore, because so many times it was misused (not here) to cover the thing and keep the people calm.

Please just give an ETA and maybe give it 1 week more than you will actually need for it, so people can work with something and think about whether they can wait that long or not.

PPS: If it could not be released earlier because of the fact that the patch files or the fixes are somewhat connected I apologize for what Iīve said

This would also help the review scores for the game as many critics, whether they are well respected game reviewers or average users, are testing the game right now or will be very soon. Not all reviewers understand that this game is a diamond in the rough. If the mother of all patches comes out in 2 - 3 weeks, instead of at least a partial patch in the next couple days, it may result in a significant drop in the game's average score. It won't stop me but it could affect other's decision to purchase the game or not. In fact, what I am saying is happening right now. One need only look at the 5 scores on metacritic and the wide range they cover - 80, 80, 70, 50, 45

I've been reading this forum since the game launched and reading the bugs and glitches. Once the patch launches I plan on picking up the game.

It's been a week since the game was released. I'm actually surprised they have not put out some kind of patch yet.

Maybe Steam charges a fee for each patch and they want to keep costs to an indie minimum?

No, steam doesn't charge a fee, but they do have a delay form receiving the patch and uploading it. They just want an all-inclusive patch I think.

It seems to be a more efficient work method, even though we need to wait longer. Grouping up the changes and putting them to steam isn't as easy as hitting "upload". In other words, actually putting the patch out probably takes a bit of work- putting out several smaller patches is probably a lot more work then putting out one big one.

As for the review scores... this is a niche game, no questions about it. I think its safe to say its going to get poor reviews from official outlets, end of story.

I hope they're only addressing game-breaking bugs at the moment, while I'd love to see the aesthetic bugs fixed soon too, I'd rather see a fully-functional framework first, and just deal with less-than-perfect english translations in the meantime.

Yeah bigger studios than these guys follow the same method of waiting an try to group more fixes into one patch. It's probably more efficient an requires less QA testing. I would say trust them since its their game an they know what's best. They are probably also aware time is of the essence in regards to review scores but it can't be helped. This is the kind of game that sales more by word of mouth than media hype anyway.

If someone is really that unpatient that they would like the patch rushed, they should grab a 64bit system OS and play, cause its very playable.
