Doesn't seem like anyone knows for sure, but thought I'd ask here in case I'm missing it somewhere.

Is Skyrim actually a Steamworks title? Or just available on Steam?

I was going to order the retail version of Skyrim, but if it's actually a Steamworks title, then it would use Steam anyway, so I was contemplating just going with the digital version.

Not sure what DRM it would use if not a Steamworks title either, and cant find any definitive answer anywhere.

Thanks.

It's unknown at this time.

I'd venture to say Steamworks, much like Fallout: New Vegas. Just a guess, though!

many people say that and still... NO BETHESDA GAME STUDIOS made game has steamworks actually :) Fallout 3 was last one. Since then they are working on Skyrim.

Alright, so I'm not actually just missing the answer somewhere, thanks.

I'm assuming that, as usual these days, that it will be announced on various sites what DRM it's using once it's actually known.

I do have one more question, then...

If I did go with the retail version to have a physical map etc., and it ends up being a Steamworks title, once installed, would I still have to keep the disc in the drive in order to launch/play the game? Or would I be able to launch it via Steam?

But all recent Bethesda Games are Steamworks titles. I think there is an agreement with Valve or something like that.

If it is steamworks, you can throw the disk away after entering your cd - key

And it will most likely be steamworks as Todd awnserd we like steam when he was asked about the drm on skyrim

Not all. Brink and New Vegas were, but Hunted wasn't.

it just says single player on steam so no its not.

@rupok2 - it being singleplayer means nothing. It could still be steamworks.

The otherthing is if you look at the pc case for skyrim, it says games for windows. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean it'll use G4WL drm.

You just enter the CD-Key into Steam, and it becomes just like another Steam-bought game. You can still install from the disc and let Steam download any updates if any.

I'm hoping it'll be a steam game. I'm buying the physical game, I usally do, because it's quicker to (re)install, I get the map, and I'm SO getting the collectors edition :) I love games on steam cause once it's on I don't need to worry about losing or scratching the disk or misplacing the key.
