View Full Version : The game won't save my settings?

I just recently bought Morrowind here on Steam, and I had one question: how do I get the game to save the settings I choose? Every time I set everything up right, play for awhile, get off, then get back on, I have to re-do EVERYTHING. The resolution, the keyboard settings, subtitles, sensitivity, everything! It's gets extremely annoying after awhile. Is there any fix to this at all? Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Also, for some reason (and this only started to happen recently) my game seems to just crash at completely random times. I go to attack an enemy, and it crashes. I load the game, kill the guy, kill two more guys, and the game crashes as I'm about to attack another guy. Why does this keep happening?
P.S. Resetting my options every time I get on the game is getting really obnoxious. It still happens. Can anyone shed some light on my "situation?"

Also, if it means anything, most of the random crashing happened when I entered the cave "Sargon" to kill someone for a quest.

are you using Vista/windows7 and is steam installed in the program directory if so its a know bug with vista/windows 7 doesn't want you to mess with the programs directory. i had the same problem with the retail version of Jade Empire and Vista i had to reinstall it into a different place to just save the game.

Bumping, since I am also having the same problem, which obviously irritates me to a big extent.

Ok...heres what I found out. This same problem was happening with Oblivion for me. I went to the My Documents/My Games/Oblivion folder. Found the Oblivion.ini file and did a right click on it. Then set it to read only. That seemed to prevent the game from resetting everything again.
So for Morrowind, it shouldn't be that much different. I don't have Morrowind anymore, so I don't know for sure. Just find the Morrowind.ini in the folders listed above.

Well, one thing that had worked for me:
1: Disable Steam Cloud
2: Set Morrowind Laucher and Morrowind.exe to run as Administrator
3: Run Laucher without Steam, double-clicking Morrwind Laucher.exe, set your configurations on the Laucher and in the game
4: Exit it, and lauch Morrowind throught Steam
5: Check if everything is okay, with your settings and exit it
6: Re-enable Steam Cloud and play.
This worked for me, must be some problem with the fact that my Morrowind.ini in on Program Files, on my Steamapps folder, and Win 7 block any change on this directory without Administrator Permit.
PS.: Sorry for my english xD
