View Full Version : Impossible mission or am I missing something?

So I just hit an outbreak mission where I'm supposed to clear the city out of zombies before nightfall. No problem!....oh wait, where'd my fancy ground infantry and artillery go?

The mission gives me 3 landmines, the sniper mercs, and the zombie bait. As far as I can tell this mission is impossible to complete within the 30 seconds of daytime I have....or am I missing something?

More or less I'd just like to know if this game actually has impossible levels to it.

Or is there a way to change what items I start off with? (guessing this might be the something I might be missing).

Edit: Took some further reading on the forum but I think I found my answer. Mercs randomly come and go, and there will be times I have to concede the mission. Would of saved me a lot of thinking time if the game just declared the territory lost instead of making me spend time on it, lol.

The game does tell you which mercs you will have before you pick the mission - on the upper right, next to the map, you will see which ones aren't busy with "other assignments". So if you get an unlucky combination like that, better pick a level 1 infestation or something.

Avoid L4 maps when your firepower is limited. They're especially difficult with conditions like shorter daylight or more zed. You can usually scrape out a win on other maps, although the zombies will sometimes outscore you if you're outmatched.

Wow, I completely missed that. Thanks for pointing that out, adds a layer of planning to the game.

Wow. I did not know about this. Damn. I always wondered why I get all the good units in level 1 missions, but I get stuck with crap units during harder ones. :p

When you hit new game (after the first) it allows you to change the settings of the game, including, the ability to choose which units you get each mission.
