View Full Version : Brink is still in my library?

I'm really confused. I know that Brink was part of the weekend free to play deal, but it was still in my library. It said Brink - 2 hours left for a good 8 hours today (rough estimate). So, getting curious, I tried to install it. I cancelled the installation because I wanted to see if it would give me an error, which it didn't. Now it just says Brink and is gray, like any other uninstalled steam game. Is this just a glitch in the server, or if I try to install it will I be able to keep it?

Why don't you try it for yourself and tell us ? It's not like you have anything to lose.

Valve probably need to change the setting manually to remove it from the accounts again. Just have some patience.
That being said, I also heard of another guy who bought the game when it came out as DVD. He uninstalled it later because he had enough of it.
But yesterday he decided to install it again from the DVD and give it another shot. He was already wondering why he didn't need to enter a key after the installation this time but thought it was because of the free weekend. All fine, but then the free weekend ended and Steam simply uninstalled the game again. But ok, he installed it again but now he lost all his save games and character progress.
Steam is great, but that was simply derp.

Portal once had a free week(end?) (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1265332) with a timer and I tried it out.. Needless to say it's been like a year and I still have it. Either I've misread it or it's an oopsie on their side.
EDIT: So I just clicked play.... Then the timer (0 minutes left) disappeared and the game started.
Now it just shows "Brink" in my library and in the view tab.
Edit 2: It doesn't show up in my "All Games" list on my profile though.

First of all the free weekend or something with portal was this way - everyone who got the game at that time got to keep it (thats how it meant to be).
Second, all the guys that dont have the game and played it while the free weekend, the minute you disconnect from your steam account and connect again you won't be able to see the game and play via the executble (thats how it was for me and I'm that this is what is going to happen to you).

For me it was like this:
Exactly after end of "free weekend" game starts, but hangs trying to connect to server.
And after several hours game disappeared from Steam library.

What's unfair?
No one said that it disappeared for those who bought the game.
EDIT: Oh now I get it - you talk about portal.

I'm sure no one got it free. It was gone from my list but still resides on the drive. If you launch it, takes you to the screen to buy it.
