It's weird how having your own family can make you a wuss.

I would've loved this in my nihilistic days. But now that I've got two young boys of my own, I don't think I can watch a small tousle-headed boy get smushed, stabbed, and hanged three ways from Sunday. It's not a knock on the game, just an observation about how viewpoints change.

Strange isn't it? I used to love those TV shows that showed home video accidents - now I'm a father I just can't watch kids getting hurt or upset. I love Limbo though and it didn't really get to me in the way you describe.

It is very macabre and done so intentionally. Even the whole game concept of "Learn through death" is contrary to a fundental design rule that most game designer adhere to which is always give the player a chance to succeed without death\reset as the primary way to figure out options.

If it helps, the boy is already dead. :)

Thanks for the responses, folks. Interesting viewpoints both personally and theoretically.
And I kinda figured he was dead. If you entitle something 'Limbo' and don't involve afterlife subject matter, it's kind of false advertising. Unless you're dancing under a stick.
