It doesnt work, people can use the overview map to see where everyone is.

Someone please help, how do you disable the overview?

And did ye try these commands...?

The last one didn't work before the last update, maybe it does now, you'll never know.

I dont think is possible to disable the overview map at the mo.
there is cmd to do it but i believe valve have it on their to do list

Yup - this effectively means all competetive online games are impossible as opposing teams can see where the enemy are when dead and ghost to their team mates.

Not a good idea when trying to get a new team based game to take off!
Needs to be fixed stat or the game will never become popular in leagues and ladders as everyone is avoiding matches because of this.
