Being set within the same universe as the original game, Moon Base Eridani continues the story of the original game from a very different viewpoint. While Light of Altair focused on the wide interstellar expansion of Humanity into the stars, Moon Base Eridani looks deeper into what it takes to be a colonist in a hostile world.

Based on player feedback, Moon Base Eridani concentrates on allowing the player to make their own choices to secure their colonies’ growth. With this free form gameplay, the game is infinitely re-playable with different results every time based on the decisions you make. Creative director Thomas de Rivaz remarks “Without the restraints of scripted missions, we have much more time to improve on the core gameplay that made Light of Altair fun. Moon Base Eridani keeps the player thinking about a ‘better’ way of laying out their colony. This iterative play style keeps a player’s interest peaked as they solve the mysteries of colonial management”. With multiple worlds to explore and many unique challenges to overcome within a dynamic economy and environment, Moon Base Eridani is set to create a new standard in simulations.

The sequel will be a sandbox version and is in development.

After their long journey, Elize Soon and her crew of the Exodus starship have been dragged through an unknown anomaly to a distant star. The starship is falling apart, the colonists are weary of space and morale is low. Landfall must be made soon to resupply, but only limited landing hubs are available. Performing a survey of the smallest moon; the only body in the system with a gravitational pull weak enough for the shuttles to have a hope of breaking orbit; a site is chosen and the first hub is launched!

Welcome to Eridani!

A walk was needed after reading the most recent situation report on the Exodus's condition. At least the colony hub had successfully landed and initial preparations had started on the surface. We were lucky that even under nightfall, the unique atmospheric conditions allowed our solar arrays to still generate a modest amount of energy; this gave the fledgling colony a comforting homely glow.

The Exodus itself was a completely different story. After being dragged through the anomaly, we were forced to eject the nuclear cores. They exploded just a few kilometres away from the ship, instantly wiping out much if the shielding protecting us from the cosmic radiation. In the aftermath, many engineers risked their lives to connect up and repair enough solar arrays so we could fire up the auxiliary engines to reach a stable orbit.

But this new world gives us hope, our people now again have a fighting chance. It will not be easy, but this colony is our stepping stone to a brighter future.

Elize Soon ending transmission.
