Game won't start at all

I have just bought Civcity. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit and the game won't start. At first it showed me the config screen, and then silently closed after pressing "play". Now it won't even show the config screen. The process just pops up into the task manager list and then goes away.

I have up-to-date drivers (ATI HD4670), verified cache files, I've restarted my computer and tried several compatibility options (Windows XP compatibility and such won't work because the game won't "find Steam" if those are set though).

I know the system requirements say XP, but I also know this game works in 7 (at least for some people). Did I just waste 10€?

I have also tried downloading the French files instead of the English ones I get by default.

Game works well for me on Win7 x64. Don't even need any compatibility settings. Only thing I see that is different is that I am using nVidia graphics. Anybody using ATI out there?

Win7 x64 without compatibility settings with nVidia graphics. Doesn't work.
