Weird resolution when playing in full screen mode

When I open Hammerfight in fullscreen mode, I get this:

The viewing area is taller than it is wide. It worked fine before I upgraded from V1.004 to V1.005. However, it displays properly (800x600) when I play in windowed mode. My resolution is 1366x768. Has anyone else seen this too?

Same exact problem with 1900x1200 monitor and desktop res.

In the options area try selecting/deselecting the Enable FX button. Changing that option caused me to get an image similar to yours.

A simple solution (worked for me) is to keep the old (v1.004) config.ini file.

Or step by step if you are lost: Delete local content of the game. Download Steam version 1.004, backup the config.ini file. Then paste the Humble Bundle version 1.005 into the game folder (to patch the game to 1.005) and replace the 1.005 config.ini with the backed one (1.004).
