Hello,
I've been having 'connectivity' issues with CS:S for a long time, and i first thought it was my router, but finally i decided to connect my PC directly to my modem and the "No-Steam Logon" problem would still happen. So i decided to Re-install everything from scratch, Steam, Windows, CS:S, everything. and it would STILL happen, i first thought it was some cloud config being messed up so i made my config go default, but since my PC isn't too good enough for CS:S it was all choppy and i would have really low FPS. After messing a bit with the config i realized that the actual problem with "No-Steam Logon" kick was being caused by the video config set on DirectX 8.1, either from -dxlevel 81 parameter or mat_dxlevel "81" from config.cfg.
So, here's my problem and dilemma:
If i use DirectX 8.1 i get kicked by Steam due to loosing the connection to steam . Not sure why, DirectX is a video/rendering library, nothing to do with networks or even Steam itself.
If i use DirectX 9 which comes installed in my Windows XP SP3 i don't get kicked by Steam, however i have so low FPS that it's impossible to play.
Has the directx problem happen to anyone before? because i searched a lot and there's nothing like it
I already contacted Support and a nice gentlemen said he would report it to the development team, but i decided to give it a try on the forums, maybe to find a temporary fix :)
