View Full Version : 750MB of VRAM in a 1GB VRAM Graphics card?

I keep going on systemrequirementslab.com and every game I test, I pass all recommended specs except for my graphics card's video ram. I have a Radeon HD 6850 Powercolor graphics card, which I know has 1GB of VRAM, but the site keeps telling me I have only 751.9 VRAM.
Before I got the new gfx card, I did have some crappy onboard integrated ATI graphics. I've been told this has something to do with why the site could be reading my graphics card as having less VRAM than it actually does.
How do I fix this problem?

First thing I would do is my computer > properties > Windows Experience Index > view and print detailed performance and system information. Under graphics it will tell you what your dedicated graphics memory is, which should be 1024. If it is 1024, then ignore SRtest. If it is not then perhaps your onboard video is still enabled somehow.

Fair enough sir.
Computer: Asus Essentio Model CM1730-05
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 Processor
GPU: Powercolor AMD Radeon HD 6850
Motherboard: Not 100% sure. The stock motherboard that came with the computer. I think it's ATI or an Asus motherboard.
RAM: 8 GB
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold Series 800W PSU
CASE: Stock Asus Essentio case.
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Drivers: The current AMD Catalyst driver version 11.7.
^And to lk0960, I went into this and it did indeed tell me I had 1024. I've heard things about that site from other people with the same issue. Perhaps it just reads the VRAM incorrectly.

No site diag program is perfect.
Run DXDiag and find out there, or as someone else said System Information.
If you know for a fact its a 1GB card then theres no problem.

Theres a strange bug I've noticed with ATI cards displaying the incorrect ram in DXdiag.
The 11 series and newer drivers display less ram than you have, and the 10 series displays more ram than what you have.

what is systemrequirementslab.com and why do you care what it says?
Good tool to find out specs of your video card is gpu-z from techpowerup

As mentioned, don't use sys req lab and don't use Dxdiag either. You know what you have.
