Hello everyone,

(First of all - get ready to pardon my (mostlikelytobe) flawed english exhibited throughout the following text .. I´m middle-european boy, so try to be kind ;)

(And the Second of all - the rant!:)
I did not pre-order this game, so I therefore haven´t played the demo yet, but from some HD videos I watched, it was clear that there is no dismemberment to be found.. Only exploding heads and mists of blood + splashy sound effects .. Not a single ork-orpse is really mutilated - in fact every limb remains in it´s "innate" position (on the ragdoll corpse) .. Which is highly unnatural in the world where the raging thousand-pound juggernaut attacks with a gigantic battle axe and recklessly splices everything up using motorized sawsword.. I think that in such a case every decent limb should (learn how to) fly! (we all have a dreams:)

I hate to see developers making such a stupid self-censored move after a proclaming that "there is lot of blood, lot of gore, limbs flying everywhere" (quoting animation lead of this title - Brent Breedveld - from their promotional ´Space Marine: Developer Diary #2 - Combat System´ video).

Where do You see those "aerial" limbs? Flying or laying around - rolling or trolling - there are simply none! (except for those securely attached to You and Your enemies)

Why did they choose to cut the cuting off the limbs?
Why - when this game has been ´M´ rated anyhow.
Why to cripple the outcome of an otherwise great (fluent, visceral) combat system with a such an idiotic self-emasculating design choice (after proud announcement of this feature.. after marketing it as "an advance dismemberment system")?
This is a clearly strange move.

Am I wrong on this one? Do You think, that in the final release this (unfortunately lost) feature will be possible to set up through an in-game menu of some sort? Or using patch, later on?
Am I the only one who is (to say the least, without cursing violently:) "not happy" about this?

Reactions are welcomed.
Nice weekend to all.
(uncensored, raw and fun - dismembered or not:)

P.S.:By the way - in the video called "Warhammer 40,000 : Space Marine - Official Developer Diary [HD]" You can clearly see the original dismemberment effects in it´s uncompromisingly uncut form .. The very exact way they were meant to (and still ´should´) be implemented.

To be honest, there was so much blood exploding I wouldn't have noticed.

I did notice I blew off half an Ork's torso at one point with my bolter, like his left arm and shoulder and head but the right arm and main trunk of his torso was intact.

Believe me, the game is GLORIOUSLY bloody.

cant say i was looking but the way the lore is followed is nice. I shot an orks head off and its body took 2 steps before falling over, this was nice as several books have mentioned things simular (not always decaptiation but extreme levels of injury) and the ork body keeps on keeping on till it gets to a point and wham good night. What if any lacking hackable limbs this game is missing the sound department upped the level by making the sounds of the combat very impressive and the large blood explosions when ya ram ya chain sword through an ork head is very impressive. All up this game will be worth the money.

I karate-kicked the head off an ork and his torso was still there after the head exploed. So yeah, i'd say its pretty open on the dismemberment.

i miss soldier of fortune gore, being able to shoot someones head and see the skull fragment, then chopping off arms and seeing muscle tissue and bone.

yea, that's gore, yea it's a video game.
i'm non violent in my daily life, but i enjoy horror/action movies
among many other things. i've been playing games since DOS and
i'm not a serial killer.

companies and self censoring is only done these days to sell more.
people really need to give artists the full control to do what they want.

look at the last kain and lynch, it actually had censoring like they do
on public tv shows. the blocky designs. what a joke!

stay true to your artists.

Well I can shoot off heads, arms and blow half the torso off the orks.

I ripped a Nob's head in half with my bare hands from inside his mouth.

Does that count?

Well.. in the available U-tube videos (showing the demo gameplay), they do not manifest at all. Maybe they are playing hide&seek with my poor vision, or maybe they all moved to Your copy of the demo-game :) ..
Everything is possible, or maybe (enhanced with "most-likely") none of it, really.
I can´t help myself - the gameplay seems ´nice´ (even in the brutality-department), but the expected dismemberment is simply not there (and if so, than far/cry/ less than it should - way less than anticipated - that could be easily deciphered).

I ripped a Nob's head in half with my bare hands from inside his mouth.
Does that count?

Oh, I´m afraid it does not.. for (as much as You display obvious brutality of that scene quite vividly) "head" is not a "limb". Gramatically nor anatomically speaking.
(and even if I were to aggree to this absurd notion /that it is/ - I do not see any of those skulls flying around as well .. only complete-ragdolls + buckets of blood)

So - heads popping do not change a score - do not make a difference to the fact, that the advertised "advanced dismemberment" was a false promise .. pity and false Pee.aR(s) bulls-hit(ting the fan of my grumpy disappointment) - created (and unfulfilled) on the developers side.

But - don´t get me wrong - I´m (almost) sure, that an actual game is (going to be) plenty of fun and is about to take it´s righteous place in my steam-library quite soon, but(once again) the lack of above discussed feature continues to make me feel frustrated and angry(bird:).
/If 2001 released ´Severance: Blade of Darkness´ could do the "severing" properly, why ´Space marines´ - AAA title of 2011 - can´t?)

Anyway - It is still only a relatively minor detail (although it is were those ´divils of unusual quality´ usually dwells;) .. Overlooked, missed, but detail nonetheless - not a biggee.
So I simply cope with it. ("We shall overcome..":)

And if not, than ´Metal Gear Solid - Rising´, ´Dead Island´, ´Rage´ etc. - will probably make up for it in (not so distant) future .. Filling the "void" in this lacking area of such a sweetly morbid, genuinely cruel (while in reality completely cruelty-free) and decadent part of an unadulterated gaming fun. We´ll see("..someday").

P.S.: So many words about flying limbs?!:) Shoot me in/between those "little grey cells" responsible!:)

By (and all) the way : Thank You for Your replies so far.
