View Full Version : does anyone think a patch will actually happen to fix everything?

this game seriously has so much potential to be great, but the awful port job, especially the 30 FPS cap and the frustrating control scheme is just RIDICULOUS.
do you think that ubisoft and the developers will listen to their costumers and at least ATTEMPT to fix something or will people simply try to create their own unofficial patches instead?
worse still, is it possible that ubisoft will do absolutely nothing and just let all of us PC gamers get royally shafted?
i want to love this game, the concept is wonderful, but it's impossible to enjoy fully. the fact that you cannot separate WASD for screen movement and the mouse for the breath is probably my biggest issue because even with the mouse scrolling turned off, it is still impossible to properly control everything on screen.
we don't even need to get into the DRM...

ubi will never fix from dust.
most games they patch start above forty dollars and stay there for several weeks if not months. Dust started at below twenty and looks rapidly to be going the bundle it with better games to move some units route. If it wasn't for the poor joke of ubisoft uplay taking obviously false registration info that frankly calls everyone involved with designing uplay's parentage into question I'd have asked for a refund.

No.
This game was born dead, and Ubisoft+Valve will sweep it under the rug and pretend it never existed.

It's a shame, I will definitely be way more cautious about what I pre-order from now on. I felt I was safe with this one because I tried the 360 version of From Dust and figured it would play very well on the pc, I was dead wrong. Hopefully they patch it, if not I'll just have to cut my losses I guess.

They may not bother with removing the 30fps cap since many people don't bother, but the controls bother everyone so they may fix that.
At least give them some time.

Now that I have the game, a game I bought based on a lie (that it was going to have amazing graphics and fluid gameplay.. not to mention 1-time DRM), I am forced to play this crap; I really hope they come out with a patch.. if only to boost the graphics to use hardware and allow for 60fps+..
If there is no patch, I guess I really will have to boycott Ubi games in the future. I've never had to jump on the boycott bandwagon before.. never felt strongly about it to bother.. but this one.... this one is the straw that broke the wagon for me..
I guess it had to happen eventually..

I doubt they'll even patch it, they're too busy counting their money to give a ♥♥♥♥.

I've still yet to see any of the bugs that some people have been complaining about and I've dumped over 14hr into this game already.
High Tides needs a fix for some folk apparently. That or people just need to suck less. I've not seen anyone post any pictures or videos of this bug yet so it's just people saying that the tides are not going all the way out. Mind you there are a few fire trees near by and you start with Amplify Breath so even if the tides doesn't go 100% out you should be able adapt.
30FPS thing I don't understand. 30FPS is about all you need for things to appear smooth, heck even around 25FPS most people don't detect a huge amount stuttering. However I also play on a beefy laptop so maybe there is something else amiss.
Controls, you get use to those. Disable mouse scrolling and you'll be golden. Only issue I have with the controls is that when you move via the keyboard your mouse is locked in place. That is annoying.

Yer the gameplay is fine.. it's DRM and graphics that are letting me down.. just expected more from a big development house such as Ubisoft.. this was their big "digital download" thing that they were raving about.. and it may as well have been solely developed and published by an indie.
The game is good.. it just could.. scratch that.. SHOULD have been so much more. :(

There are no moving targets to aim and shoot at, 30fps is plenty for this game. It's also DX9 there isn't anything nice to look at anyway.
The AA fix does make it look much better though.

Proof that it's bugged, and before anyone says it, even if you amplify the breath and try to get the water out like crazy, still doesn't work, I've tried.

Ubisoft has never fully fixed any of their ♥♥♥♥ty ports. Almost all the fixes I have found for Assassin's Creed or Prince of Persia series have been made by the community.

That's proof your PC sucks. Water is suppose to act like water, not molasses. Your PC is unable to handle water physics which is why the water is moving insanely slow.

Same happens to me... at least I don't need to worry about tsunamis as they all vanish before arriving to my villages. :p
