I can’t play the game. Every time I launch it, it freezes, either immediately, or during logo screen, or when I get to the first “Loading” screen. What’s worse, it’s a complete freeze – I can’t alt-tab, I can’t call Task Manager, I can’t even reboot – I have to turn off the PC and turn it on again.

Oh, and often when the game crashes, there’s a scratching noise coming from the speakers.

I’ve tried re-installing redistributables and updating my drivers. I also tried disconnecting pad and second monitor. Neither of this did anything. :( Please help?

My PC:
Intel Core2 Quad 2.66Hz
4 GB RAM
Win7 32-bit
NVidia GTX 460

Sorry to hear about the issue you're having. Try giving this a shot:

Right-click on Bastion in your game library, select Properties, then click on "Set Launch Options..."

You can use "-windowed" to force the game launch in windowed mode and "-x" and "-y" to force it to launch at a particular resolution.

So you might try adding:
-windowed -x 1280 -y 720

And see if that allows you to get the game running after which you can reconfigure it to your liking.

You could also try using a different audio device by plugging in head-phones before running the game if you have some available.

Thank you very much for the help! :D

I actually tried disabling the sound completely, and the game stopped locking-up. After that I pocked around with drivers - I had the latest version from motherboard manufacturer, and installed the latest version from audio chip manufacturer, and it help (I have integrated Realtek ALC883 @ Intel 82801IB ICH9 , if that’s any help).

Nevertheless, I’m still getting occasional hard freeze during loading screens. Any advice on that?
