Hi Everyone,
I am Andrew Hume, one of the two devs at MinMax. We are really thankful for the overwhelmingly positive response on Steam and rest assured, we read every post in these forums.
For any of you that particularly liked our game, could you please recommend it to your friends, both on Steam and in the real world? The Steam recommendation mechanic is a very powerful tool for getting the word out.
We have received little press coverage, and word of mouth has been our best way of spreading info about SPAZ.
A few reviews are trickling in now, but they tend to be a mixed bag. Sometimes we get an old school gamer who is absolutley in love with the game, other times, not so much. This is a niche title so it is to be expected though.
If you guys would be willing to help out the little guy here, we would really appreciate it. I am going to try to get a little Facebook action going too.
Also, we are very open to any marketing ideas, as we are total noobs when it comes to business.
Even reviewer contacts for ones you know would enjoy SPAZ would be awesome.
Please don't forget to recommend us on Steam :)
Thanks very much for your support.
Sincerely,
Andrew Hume (Blorfy)
Well, if you put my review on your Reviews page, that might encourage a few more people to buy SPAZ :)

i sure do recommend this game to all of my friends ;) i really like it. i hope they will do so too.
here are a few suggestions for the reviewers.
try to get in contact with the following youtube indie fans.
YOGSCAST http://www.youtube.com/user/BlueXephos
TotalBiscuit http://www.youtube.com/user/TotalHalibut
they both have a very large userbase and both are big indie game fans. i know TotalBiscuit did the voiceover for your intro. so i think this one should be an easy one ;)
here are a few indie game reviewer sites, which i think would really like to review your game or even do an interview with both of you.

http://www.diygamer.com/

i hope i could help you, and wich you good luck to get in contact with a few of those, and that they will help to spread the word ;)

I put a recommendation up on Steam the day I picked it up.
This game is beyond awesome. It's a little mix of Space Rangers, Freespace and Elite with a great story and a TON of content made by a tiny 2 developer team who created SPAZ because no one else was making games like this anymore. Support indie devs and support one of the best genres of games that has all but died off in the age of 3D graphics. Buy SPAZ!
Also put up something on Facebook and a number of smaller forums I belong to.
I just wish there was more I could do to spread the word.

In case you weren't aware, you know voice of the narrator? That IS TotalBiscuit(aka TotalHalibut), he even mentions it's his voice in his initial WTF is SPAZ video.

Been waiting for this game from the moment I saw it on steam... Somehow I just liked the banner, and the gameplay videos I could find.
Sadly, I could not play the game much yet. But the small time I spent in it I really enjoyed.
You have my recommendation! :)

Recommended it :).
Plus once my friends gets off his ♥♥♥ and plays it I'll buy him a copy. Least I can do after one of you two helped me out with my recent issue via Email.
I was expecting a "Tough ♥♥♥♥ buddy" after my dealings with EA, but you guys were extremely fast and super freaking nice.
Whichever one of you is Andrew is the one I talked to. They be awesome :D. (I'm sure the other guy is great too!)
I had been playing from home and got to work and realized "HOLY CRAP! I FORGOT MY SAVE!" Logged into the game and my save was here.
Steam cloud saves on an indie game...talk about heaven. :D
Why is : o turning into :o...who does emotes on steam -.-

Oh well...Thanks again :D.
I meant it though, ya'll deserve a bunch of money. This is a phenomenal accomplishment for a two man team.
Short of a modular ship construction kit I don't see anything missing from the experience (not that I wont' welcome new stuff) :D.
...anywho lemme stop spamming in the referral thread.
You heard the man! Get out there and do a referral! :D

Have you considered applying to have your game included in an upcoming Humble Bundle or Indie Royal Bundle? ( http://www.humblebundle.com/ http://www.indieroyale.com/ )
The last Humble Bundle scored $2,372,397.48. Admittedly it was a record sale, and not all of that money goes to the developers, but some of it does! If you're worried about this devaluing your product (and rightfully so), there were 7 individual developers on there last time. Lets imagine that after all the red tape, taxes and fees, you got 3% of the total amount. That's $71,171.92 for you two, not to mention you'll be supporting charity in the process.
Indie Royal doesn't publicly post their financials that I am aware of, but they did sell 27,232 bundles last time.
One last thing. I'm new to the whole SPAZ scene, and would imagine you already have official twitter accounts that I just haven't discovered, you should post them here for us!

I am loving this game atm, sucked right in. At first I never thought much of it as I never understood how it worked but then I played it bit and now I am leveling like a mad man. Please keep adding more things to the game like ships and stuff you can discover :)
If you love this game you should recommend it and tell everyone how great it is so that they add more cool things to it. Like I said above I would love for them to keep upgrading this and adding more and more to it.

Start a community contest?
Im taking it you atleast got a facebook page for the game(its the bare minimum). Also get exposure on Indie game websites(lots of those around).
But i would make a video with you 2 guys in it. Introduce yourself just and proper, just be yourself. Dont act like a developer act like who you are. Say you are a bunch of noobs whe it comes to marketing and so you have written out a contest! For whoever has the best idea/video/whatever to make people attentive to SPAZ. The fact you yourselfs as dev do the video, and being honest is a big part of that, should get you alot of attention(these kind of vids spread quickly if well done).

Hey bub. I totally appreciate your request. I think that's a great way to do it. I personally love the game and have told many of my friends as well as buying copies for a few of them. I will also be writing a review on here and if possible metacritic and gamespot.
As far as recommendations. I would love to see a more controller friendly control scheme. I use xpadder for many games and it is not easy to set up S.P.A.Z. to do so. I'm not suggesting you make it xpadder friendly. I'm suggesting making it controller compatable or adding a more standard WASD style of movement as an option. This would make a huge difference. Or even just being able to use the arrow keys to spin your ship for aiming instead of the mouse. Also if you guys have any kind of street kit, like posters or anything of that sort let me know. I would gladly put some of it up in my store.
As a bit of a side note. I have worked on the retail side of the gaming industry for nearly 15 years now. I have managed for gamestop as well as other major retailers. I recommend steam to all my pc customers. I usually recommend Terraria as a game to look into as it is fun, cheap and covers many genres. I will be adding S.P.A.Z. to that list as well. Good luck guys.

Thanks very much everyone! We really appreciate you all spreading the word about SPAZ. You guys have played a major role in making SPAZ a success and ensuring a SPAZ 2 and we will not forget that.
Hi Devil Man X, thanks very much for the added exposure both through your personal contact with people and online as well. Once you have your reviews ready, we would love to see them, and feel free to send a link along to contact@spazgame.com
We have a plan to create an alternate (non default) flight model that is more traditional that will allow use of controllers. It will require quite a bit of fiddling, but especially with the modding coming soon we know it is something people will enjoy.

I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with for us controller players. I just hope it doesn't lose too much of it's realistic feel. I love the way the ship feels and moves. It's really just the aiming that bugs me sometimes. That's more nit picking than anything else though. I did write a review on metacritic and gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/space-pirates-and-zombies/user-reviews/786737/). Thanks for the great work. I can't wait to see more.

Recommendation written. I don't think I've had this much fun with a single player game since Skyrim came out last year. It's no wonder indie games have taken off, with excellent customer support and free DLC. But most of all, great games.
If / when SPAZ 2 is released, it'll be an instant purchase. Keep up the great work.
