You've all have now experienced one of the worst games ever made. A game that could have been great, where it not full of major game design flaws.
Now go out there, play some of your most hated games, and go, "Man, now that I played Garshasp, those other games really weren't that bad."
That's a bit unfair tbh.
How would you like it if you spent a long time making a game only to get bad mouthed on a forum.
Yes the game can do with some improvements, but it's not like any AAA games are perfect as well.
Also the price is much lower than a badly ported AAA game.
If you don't like then fair enough, but it's not a real bad game for the price,i'v seen worst for much higher price.
I like the part where you pointed out the flaws
Oh wait
yea...

It's a much crappier Prince of Persia Sands of Time, basically.

Apparently the exe is ubervirus lol. My antivirus disliked Garshasp just as much as u apparently.

This is hardly one of the worst games ever made.

Being indie isn't an excuse for severely lacking basics. I haven't seen hit detection this bad in the last 10 years. No matter how many times I swing or how close the enemy is, the blade just whiffs through flesh without dealing damage.
It's clunky, and it's already been done with MUCH more satisfying results by the Prince of Persia and God of War series.
Trying to emulate blockbuster success, or paying homage to it, by releasing a severely unpolished product at a reduced price tag is more of a scam than an honest effort.

I'm not going to go deep into it, but I did write a lot about it in the previous posts on this forum. But here are some major flaws that's stuck in my head.
1) Bad camera for platforming
2) Doesn't tell you HOW to do certain things. The boss battle with the 2 monsters took forever to figure out.
3) REALLY bad hit detection.
4) Die and you don't know why. Really? This isn't 1995!
5) Die when you touch water?
6) Really bad camera, as it doesn't tell me what I'm supposed to do next.
So what if you're an indie studio. There are design decisions that they made, that were STUPID. Why even HAVE platforming then if your camera sucks? Why even have that stupid 5 minute event where you slide down a wall? As if they had a checklist of cool things, and then half-assed it just to cross it off.
Make ONE good mechanic, and work around it. It's basic game design.
I actually hope that schools show off Garsharp as an exercise in bad game design. Show this and grade students based on what needs improvement, and why they failed from the ground up.

use it as an excercise in bad game design ? lol, you really lack common sense.
Just by looking at all the videos in youtube, that game is NOT the epitome of badness ... It has its flows but certainly it's not certainly not that bad, as others said there's WAY WORSE out and a good chunk of AAA games are in that category.

Bought the game over the weekend for 3,33 Euros.
I did see the rather bad critics but I did not mind.
At least the fighting is fun.
Yes, it's kind of buggy and strange but it's an independent game made by a few developers. Considering the fact that it was made by only nine people it's pretty OK.
The gaming industry is permanently looking for new game developers and I guess they brought their foot in the door.
My expectations were minimal, therefore I am not very disappointed. If your expectations were high when you bought the game I can understand that you were probably pissed afterwards.
Take it easy, it's just a game.

1) True.
2) It took me forever to win without getting hit, otherwise easy.
3) Not bad hit detection but many invicible attacks/poses etc.
4) You die when you fail, simple.
5) Many games use it. What challenge would be there if you could swim instead of using rafts? Anyway, in the water you can find piranhias or others, even more dangerous, species?
6) Partialy true... But even "better" slashers have problems with camera placement. Remember it.
If it would be a test where you have to write down 6 flaws of Garshasp you would get F.
The only bad things about this game are the camera, jumping being clumsy and some minor bugs and badly executed ideas.

Idiotic comment , Nr.001
Also camera is fine, hit detection is alright. The only I donīt like, is the always again showing of the explanation box when restarting a sector...(f.a. getting down the tower wall)
It reminds me to Lara Croft īs 2D game, but itīs all mostly in a big castle-tower area with stony magic lifts & big figures.
Game is just alright & reasonable I say
Have fun

I can't experience all the badness - it won't even load for me to begin with. *cries*

I have enjoyed it quite a bit. I consider it a work of art. The feel and atmosphere of it to me is completely unique in the game world, inspired by an drawing from a cultural legacy seldom experienced. No, the gameplay is far from perfect and it can be frustrating at times but to me it's really a beautiful and unique experience.

That's a bit unfair tbh.
Only it's not.
Not when my money is involved it's not. By virtue of being on Steam, and being featured during the summer sale the makers of this poor excuse of derivative garbage made more money than they deserve.
But I don't blame them as much as I do Steam for allowing this steaming pile of software on their service.
Not only would I say this to their face but I would ask for my money back.

steam = private company = they want money. If they manage to sell what you qualify of garbage, good for them.
If we follow your train of thought and question all places that sell "garbage" then lets look at all junk food joints, dollar stores and such...

I have 3 screens using nVidia surround. First I try to run the game on a single-screen at 1680x1050 resolution, and I am met with nothing but crashes each time I try to launch. Changed the resolution to 5040x1050, now the game loads. OK, but wait, my keyboard and mouse doesn't work at all...... Let me try something. *moves joystick* Oh wow, it auto-detects my joystick so it completely disabled all other input. Brilliant! Let me go reconfigure to see if I can force it to use keyboard instead. Hmmm, nothing here about selecting input devices, but I can clearly see my keyboard has keys mapped to it. Let me try remapping them. OK, let me launch the game again. OK, now the menu works with the arrow keys, maybe when I start playing the mouse will work. New game...... crash.
Thank you, uninstalled.
I usually like to support indie games, in fact I bought this game when it first came out just cause it was indie and just never got around to playing it until now. But I have to say it was a complete waste of money. Basic functionality is vital, even before bugs or other game features, and this game has failed at that for me.
