Hello,

Im hoping that the current CS:GO models will get replaced because they look ridiculously bad imo.

Thats how models should look like 2011:

Also, look at the animations...

The CS:GO models look like a joke compared to this.
The maps look good but playermodels, gunmodels, animations dont compare to modern games...

What part of "under development" does no one understand? When CS:S First came out they only had 2 models. Now there is 4. I am getting tired of everyone complaining bout the guns and models. It isn't even released yet. How are you so sure these are going to be the model's used in the real CS:GO?

The only thing worth changing with the models is the size. make them bigger, so they create the illusion of being closer to you. For example i believe Unreal Tournament 3 had the option of small weapon models and big weapon models. CSGO could do something similar. Let you choose how big and close the models are to you. Another example is the difference between L4D1 and L4D2 weapon models. L4D2 had the weapons way closer to you, for a more realistic look.

I totally agree with you! Everything should be like battlefield 3

Lets make every single gun animation like this! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmWOxpKjbeo#t=00m36s)

Geez, I got to admit I've never really looked at battlefield before, but those ARE some nice animations.

The Frost Bite engine is nice I admit, but we shouldn't always be pressing Valve to make a whole new engine. It's very costly. On top of that, the CS franchise is all about the gameplay, it's not meant to stun people with it's graphics. Why do people play 1.6 so much? Is it because they're fascinated with the decade old graphics? It's because 1.6 offers awesome gameplay.

They must want CS:GO to look like GTA.

The ONLY thing CSGO should take from BF3's models is the forearm size. The trailer makes it look like your trying to sniff your arm and fire at the same time.

Yeah I mean Battlefield 3 looks really mindblowing and I preordered this Game already to feed my GTX 480 AMP and my Phenom II X6 1055T the first time for real, but Valve can't compete against that Engine with the 7 Years old Source Engine in every aspect and it isn't necessary anyway. I could be wrong but that's just what I think.

But you are right, the Playermodels and Weapons could look better and Valve has still enough Room and Time to work on them. So critcism is ok.

What you shouldn't forget is that Valva allowed us a first look at a Alpha Version and not of the final Release.

So don't forget the Game is in the Alpha! The Beta in October doesn't start for nothing!

And by the Way, even if Battlefield looks really good I don't believe the Gamemachanics will ever motivate me the way like a Counter Strike always did. Because the magic of Counter Strike never really laid in the Graphics but rather in the Game Mechanics and the Gameplay. And anybody who doesn't know this can't call himself a Counter Striker. You know you get used to very good looking Graphics very fast but you get never used to a Gameplay if it doesn't motivate you.

But it's ok if you criticize the Graphics if you are not pleased with them and perhaps Valve arranges a few Changes.

Why make them look like that? The one right now is good enough, and we dont want it BF3'd up.

The game looks bostin, thats all BF needed (besides weapon tweaks) graphics updated and new locations (maybe some more game modes) none of these new player features forced onto the experienced.

Something wrong with Battlefield's graphics?

Ideally, Valve should keep the current detail level for low and medium-tier PCs, and implement something more modern (it IS possible with this version of Source) for the rest of us who can handle it.

This looks like a mod with ported low detail models. Everything looks blocky and strange.

BF3 is curb stomping CSGO. The animations and models look absolutely horrible. If this is the final look of CSGO I'm so glad I'm not a Counter Strike Fan, because I'd be horrifically disappointed, luckily I'm just an onlooker.

Thankfully, Valve is well known for changing animations on the last minute. L4D2 recieved new animations two months before release and one weapon recieved even new animations TWO WEEKS (in the pre-released demo, it was still using old animations and in the final, it got its own).

I don't think they need to redo the whole engine. I think it should look like portal 2 did but just make the models look not so noobish and cartoony. I think they should make the weapons spread more and encourage more close combat.

As much as I would hate this as well, that actually makes more sense. People miss horribly in real life when things get down n' dirty and your adrenaline and fear are taking over.

My opinion on the visuals so far is that the environment textures are a bit too low-res in what we've been shown and the viewmodels look horrible.

The player model animations are great, though.

Oh really? Well a good number of "old folk" here actually enjoy both playing and making these mods. CS itself started as a mod. If you want amazing graphics and dynamic effects all over the place, go play Battlefield 3 or Crysis. Valve has always been about gameplay, not making an oversized tech demo.

Hey let's just make CS:GO look like BF3 while we're at it. Let's also make run x10 slower.

It's not about making CS look like BF. Its about that the graphics are ugly as sin and that is should not be in 2012. And it is not a performance-thing... that is all that was mentioned.

You guys are talking about Battlefield as if it's a bad game or something. So far this year looks like it's going to belong to Battlefield. Gameplay looks amazing, Engine looks stunning. Blew me away from the first time I saw it. Best part is, it's they've some how managed to pull this off on current generation consoles.

Valve's CS:GO comes out later than BF3, sometime in the next year to be exact. Apparently it's been in production for two years. Sorry, but I feel Valve is hiding behind the "IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE CS2!" crutch far too much. Touch up or rehaul, CS:GO looks like it's going to be fairly similar to a "Condition Zero 2" out come.

Most of the idle animations look off. Some of the weapon models look awful.
Coming from valve I'm a little disappointed. I really hope they change those animations before release, I'd hate to have to redo those myself.

agreed cs weapons should be like this in terms of positioning and those animations would suit well

BattleField 3 animations are all motion captures of real people under instruction of ex. SAS member Andy McNab, that's why they look good.

http://planetbattlefield.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=165167

Valve doesn't use motion capture AFAIK, I think they still animate everything by hand (which is odd in it's own way because motion capture is both cheap, easy and looks much better).

L4D2 they did use Motion Capture for the survivors - and L4D1, they did that already with the CI. At least, that's what it stated in the commentary mode. But it's most likely as MoCap is a lot cheaper than manual animating in a large scale IF you want it to be realistic.
Yet, several of their animations are still by hand (most obvious things like getting carried by a Charger or being punched by a Tank) and that it only applies for the third-person-animations and not the first-person-ones (which, however, are still pretty good in L4D1. L4D2 is more obvious to be manual animated, though some of the weapons are still good.)

I searched a bit and you're correct, for L4D* they used motion capture for zombies and survivors. However I do think they should start using it for first person view animations as well.

Huhh.
If i see another Battlefeild post im going to be nagry.
People see to think in terms of Graphics and animations it's the best this year when it's miles off.

Rage, is the best game graphically this year and currently holds the award for best engine and graphics in existence.
