View Full Version : Metro 2033 and the war between resolution, field of view, and my mouse

tl;dr: I think I need to find a way to alter X and Y axis mouse sensitivity separately, but don't know how to do this.

OK, so I just put together a new system recently, my first Eyefinity box. It's great for the most part except for when I run into games that completely freak out when they try to display on 3 monitors.

Metro 2033 isn't one of these games, but it's close.

So I start the game, and all the initial menus come up fine. It's running on one monitor in the middle at 1920x1080. I notice that all the menu text is really small, but I figure that's just how it's designed. Go to graphics options and crank everything up, including resolution out to 5760x1080.

All of a sudden, the menu text all looks perfectly normal, like it was actually designed for this resolution. Awesome, I think.

Here's the problem though: now the game doesn't seem to realize that it's stretched across three screens and it's telling my mouse stupid things like "it should take you the same amount of time to go from the left edge to the right edge as it should to go from the top edge to the bottom edge!"

Result: I either have normal movement speed along the X axis and Y axis movement is sluggish as hell, or I have normal movement speed along the Y axis and I can turn all the way around twice just trying to look to one side.

So I figure that I'll just try it on one monitor, that should fix the mouse issues. Well it does, but it still tries to cram the Eyefinity-style field of vision (130 degrees? 140?) into a single screen (this is also why the menu text was so tiny when I first launched).

So is this a config file thing that I need to tinker with? I really want to run it in Eyefinity since I actually have the machine specs to do so, but I can't deal with crazy mouse syndrome so I'll settle for single screen if that's the only option.

If you can afford three monitors and a computer good enough to play this game at this very high resolution, I think you can buy a mouse able to tweak this, like a DeathAdder or something

I saw that thread, and specifically the bit about changing mouse_aim_sens and mouse_sens in the config files, but I was hoping for a more detailed answer as that doesn't really tell me which setting is hitting which axis or a suggested setting to fix the issue.

Being able to afford something and wanting something are two entirely different things. I have a mouse that I like.

Then see if you can find some software that can do that for you... I don't think the game itself has this feature
