I'm just a bit curious about why only 4 GB of hard drive space is required. Well, I know that the game only needs 4 GB because that is all that it is, but I am pretty nervous as to why it is such a low amount. I hope that doesn't mean that it is going to be a short story. I would still be upset even though the game is only $29.99.

"Old School Shooters use less HD space"
Doom 3 and Quake 4 which were fairly lengthy games (14 - 18 hrs) were less than 3 GB.
I would say lets not start getting jumpy about length just yet.

I understand, but those games had far less memory requirements because of the inferior graphics, animation and what not.

Picked this off of an interview here (http://www.nowgamer.com/features/1005710/hard_reset_interview.html) hope this helps.
Are there any details on pricing, the amount of gameplay and whether you'll include multiplayer?
Hard Reset is a single player game. It's about 8-10 hours of gameplay for a first playthrough. But I hope you will want to have another. No details about pricing yet.
If I spent full price on this game and only get 10 hours of game play then I have only spent $3 per hour for the entertainment great value compared to going to the movies. I know I would more likely get 20 hrs out of a game like this so entertainment value goes up a lot in that scenario.

well, developers said that it will be 8-10 hours to finish for first playthrough. don't get mad. it's totally fine with $29.99 game. it's also PC only exclusive. so there will be no console version.

Lots of sloppy console ports will also avoid using the engine to display cinematic scenes, hardware limitations/quality assurance.
A full motion video compared to high res textures shared within the game and cinematic scenes with a superb graphics engine, tends to save space.
A bigger file unfortunately doesn't translate into better gameplay or more of it to that effect.

I totally forgot that they didn't do full motion cutscenes, which I'm okay with. So 4gb doesn't sound too far fetched. The engine is also optimized. I'm sure we're only looking at around 8-10 hours of gameplay depending on difficulty level but I'm okay with that. I don't really like long games. Not CoD series short but not 30 hour shooter long lol.

I'd be okay with it being 10 at minimum. For some really I would really like to see a shooter with a long gametime. Maybe squeeze out 60 hours with a couple different campaigns and different types of scenarios. Lots of upgrade choices. Amost like a career type of thing, singleplayer. Keep the player sucked in for the long haul!

I wonder when we can pre-load it. I'm chomping at the bit to play this masterpiece. It looks awesome.

Yeah, dudes. I'm still excited for the game and it had many appealing things to it. I honestly didn't hear about the 8-10 hours campaign. Thanks for clarifying. :)

You really should avoid the temptation to correlate filesize, to amount of gameplay time.

Ok, I am no experienced gamer by any stretch of the imagination. I've played PC for only 6 years during my teenage years until now.

I think they did the sensible, correct thing and reused textures, packed less baked effect textures and used proper compression. Plus, this game is entirely linear dialogue-wise -- that substantially reduces the amount of space required.

True.
I'd imagine that, with consoles, if you're streaming textures off an optical drive, you wouldn't want them compressed. That would severely increase processing overhead, and lag in accessing the textures.
So when it comes to the PC version of a game, most devs just go meh, just get Win32 version of the exe running and an install setup, then burn it all to disc and ship. MS/Sony aren't paying us to give a damn about the PC version.
Having said that, a fifty dollar discount off your (Aussie) average RRP goes a LONG way to letting any sort of game deficiencies slide.

seems like someone on every new game will try to say game size is game length.A new fad I guess.
far Cry 2 was over 50 hours long, and it was 4GB.Now stop the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ comparisons.

when did I even get angry? But then again its hard for anyone to read whether they are angry or not..I don't know how you got to that conclusion.
Besides, posting such stupid comparisons over and over does get annoying, but I guess you are new here anyway.
