Like the title says, I've got a Steam key for this game available for $40. Due to another website not being completely honest about their checkout procedure I'm now stuck with a code for this game. While I'm sure it'll be a good game and all, this other site has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I'd never be able to fully enjoy this game because I didn't fully agree to purchase it in the first place. All I want is to sell the code off and be done with it.

You'd think that if a site says they have a final confirmation page before you're charged, that they'd actually have a final confirmation page.

Can I ask which website it is? Perhaps PM me if you don't want to namedrop them here?

As Daedalus pointed out though, it is still available for $34, so you'll have a hard time. Sit on it for a while. If you can't get a satisfactory offer, you may change your mind and want to redeem it.

Sounds like a cruddy experience Erik. At the moment people can easily get a key for under $40, though that may not always be the case. If you can't get a buyer, I'm sure you'll be able to trade the key with someone down the line, since Dead Island looks like it's going to be a good game, a lot of people will be wanting it. Good luck though.

This game requires Steam(TM) in order to install and run and so cannot be traded or refunded.

Pre-purchase Dead Island from Green Man Gaming and you will receive the Bloodbath Arena DLC for free when it becomes available (scheduled for release one month after the game's release).

Wow, people are still trying to sell keys for more than what GMG is charging.

Now is $42.50, and i wasn't askin for a $50 game but for some reason, people think their $30 games should keep their value and your $50 game should lower its value

It's $34 after you enter a coupon code, and you get the DLC.

I got my key from GMG. I got quite a bad deal from them and they refuse to do anything about it. My first and very last dealings with that site. Not only did their site mess up and not give me a final confirmation screen, when they finally responded to my emails 2 days later, they were snarky and literally said "We didn't force you to buy Dead Island." Excuse me, but they basically did. I just wanted to see the final price before deciding one way or the other, but as soon as I entered my info, they took my money. I admit that I shouldn't have been browsing a site I'd never been too while very tired, but I've never once had any online site never NOT have a final confirmation screen. Hell, I'm actually trying to sell it at a loss even at $40. They actually charged me $42.51 total.

So yeah, I'm trying to sell a key that can be purchased cheaper. Unfortunately for me, it would appear that I got double screwed by GMG as I was unaware of of the cheaper price until now.

I just said screw it and decided to activate the game on Steam. Figured my son would play it if nothing else. Turns out the key they sent me won't even work in the US. I highly suggest people stay away from Green Man Gaming.

I bought my key from GMG. That's not how it works. It tells you how much it costs in your basket, before you put in your info.

This is contrary to literally thousands of people's experiences with Green Man Gaming.

I've now bought two titles from them, Deus EX HR, and Dead Island, for a total savings of $40 - that's for just two games. They're already enticing me with Batman 2 for $34 - again.

For Deus Ex, and Dead Island, both times GRG sent me the key as soon as they got them, and I was able to unlock the pre-load by Friday afternoon, for the midnight Monday launches. Seriously, as a gamer who's looking to take advantage of day one savings, I strongly, strongly take exception to your post.

Also, I can't help but note that many of the people either wanting to sell a key for more than what Green Man Gaming is charging, or people who are just plain being critical of Green Man Gaming for no reason, are usually people with fewer than ten posts to their name. Many haven't even posted five times.

Buyer beware.

I just bought a copy from GMG today and their definitely was a confirmation screen, I printed it off on PDF and saved it so I know it shows up. You musta' been really tired but I'm betting you are just mistaken about GMG. I plugged their key into steam and it worked like a charm!

Im in NA and bought from GMG for $34.

I was easily able to see the total before finalizing the order and the key worked fine for me activating on Steam in North America.

So every one of those claims has been disputed.
I wonder what this guy did wrong ;)

I'm glad you got it to work for you. I did not. Regardless of whose fault it is that I got charged, the key still doesn't unlock a US copy of the game and there was nothing on the site about the code being specific to any region. So I got triple screwed by GMG and will never use that site again. Once for no confirmation screen, once for the higher charge than everyone else got and once for the non US key for the game.

As for the post count issue, you can see I've been a member for over 2 years. That's actually just the Steam forums, I've been using Steam itself for even longer. I just rarely ever feel the need to post anything. I mostly just use the forums to get some opinions about various games and deals.

As for GMG, I've heard lots of good about the place in recent times which is why I went there to check out their deals. I'm happy that you guys had a positive experience with them but I just did not. I wish I had screenshots of my transaction, but there just simply was not a confirmation screen on my end. I personally love shopping with Amazon and I'm fairly fond of Steam's deals, but I know plenty of people who'll never use either site because of a random bad experience they had with them that's forever tarnished their image in that user's eyes.

But flat out, the key I got DOES NOT WORK on mine or my son's US Steam accounts. I get the message:

Not Available

Sorry, but the following items are not available for purchase in this country. Your purchase has been cancelled.

I got a 15 digit code. What did you guys get?

I remember there being 3 stores when I bought my key. North America, Europe and something else. I wonder if you entered the wrong store?

Did you use a 20% voucher code to get the further discount?
If not then you got charged $42.45.
How is that GMGs fault if you didnt use the coupon code?

Dead Island keys are being sent out on Friday, 02/0/9/2011

Non German Users

If your Steam key hasn't worked, it's a problem with the way we're identifying your country. Please post a ticket and include the COUNTRY you are in. We may have to supply you with a different key. It's important that you DON'T give this key out to anyone else as it makes it much more difficult to fix the problem.

Please be patient as we get through the tickets. The technical support team will be working throughout the weekend to make sure all tickets are answered, and we aim to have the problem entirely sorted by Monday.

sounds like they are aware and working on the problem. as for price there were multiple vouchers you could use to drop it to $34 including one specifically made for dead island. that can only be blamed on yourself also vouchers say region dependent.

oh and every purchase I've had has had very clear purchase pages, in fact there's 2 pages with your total listed, one has the total right next to where you enter payment info, it's impossible to miss when entering payment info. So sounds like user error all around or this is a scam or both.

I don't care whether anyone believes my experience or not. Really don't see how I'm trying to scam anyone either but whatever. It's a moot point now as the key I have wouldn't work anyways even if someone had wanted to buy it.
