its not Games for Windows Live its Steamworks lol. Chances are it will be p2p because it is only 4 clients at a time.

agree, doesnt really need a dedicated server.... but l4d has ded servesr even tho it has 4 players only.. so id say the common sense to do would be it being optional

Left 4 Dead has 8.

Left 4 Dead has 4...8, if you modify the Server. There are 8 Survivors, if you count them from both games, but a vanilla L4D/L4D2 Server only supports 4 players.

Ah yea, right, sorry...forgot about that, since I mostly played coop.

Is there a Versus type mode in Dead Island?

Not that I'm aware of, the preorder dlc is supposed to be some kind of survival mode, possibly competetive but I don't this it will be PvP.

I doubt that it is p2p, as it is VAC enabled, and I think VAC only supports server/client connections.

it is steamworks enabled, which does not mean, that it uses VAC. Infact, VAC is only used on games using the Source Engine.

VAC = Valve Anti Cheat

I haven't seen a game so far, which is not using the Source Engine but VAC.

You have balls saying P2P in these forums. I got swamped with "DURH, YOU BUY THE GAEM HURRR" :|

Dead Island http://store.steampowered.com/app/91310/

Check the panel on the right.

Valve Anti-Cheat enabled

Also these (non-source) games use VAC:

Killing Floor http://store.steampowered.com/app/1250
Valve Anti-Cheat enabled

IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover http://store.steampowered.com/app/63970/
Valve Anti-Cheat enabled

Can't check the store site from Dead Island, because I'm from Germany.

Regarding Killing Floor and IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover:

Never played those games, never checked the store pages.

You corrected me, thanks on that.

So yea, it then has VAC, still does not mean, that it WILL have dedicated servers. Best way to answer that, is, to wait till the 6th of september and check out how the multiplayer works.

Not to mention the most aggressive implementation of VAC ever: Modern Warfare.

I hope this game has dedicated servers. Those of you who don't know why it should have, a dedicated server runs always flawwlessly. In a game where host is one, he alone can have only working playable experience while others experience lag and such.

I seriously want to smack you upside the head for your stupid comment like that. They're are other games that are not running on Source engine that uses VAC. Get educated.

What does his comment has to do with the game being developed with Source?
