Hello!
I would like to ask a question.
Lately, with Dead Island's Pre-Loading being launched on Steam, i've been seen a lot of friend's profile updates with the following message: Robert now owns Dead Island: Ripper_2.0., Julian now owns Dead Island: Ripper_2.0. etc.
I myself pre-ordered and did the pre-loading yesterday, however, my profile, seen through somebody else's, doesnt show that update for me. only recent games i bought, achievements unlocked etc. Should i be worried that i didnt get the pre-order extras?

Did you preorder from steam or somewhere else?
The Ripper is a steam preorder exclusive

yup. Steam pre-order!
I see people that downloaded today and already have the update on their profile, i did it yesterday and still nothing. it's not about showing that i have it or anything, lol. it's that i'm afraid steam didnt recognize my copy as having the ripper and that it didnt download the proper file that shows that the ripper's there!

You can also get it from Gamestop.

Its a blueprint so once you get the required items to make it you will be able to use it.

everyone gets this weapon i believe, only difference is preorders with the promotion get it first while others have to earn it in the game. i don't think it's totally exclusive item.

Maybe it'll be like those New Vegas Pre-order items where the only difference was increased durability.
So ripper 1.0 is in game, but 2.0 is a slightly tougher pre-order variant.

From the Steam Store page:

"Pre-Purchase Offer
Dead Island Pre-purchase offer includes two bonuses! "The Ripper" special weapon will be available for use right away while the Bloodbath Arena downloadable content will become available one month after the game's release."

Nowhere else does it say "Steam exclusive". Anyone who pre-ordered the game OUGHT to receive all the pre-purchase content. Why they are reportedly not doing this I don't understand given no stated indication of exclusivity and the fact that it's a Steam-required game (buying from elsewhere just gives you a Steam reg code). The only requirement as stated by Steam is that you have pre-purchased the game with no stated conditions on where you purchased your Steam code.

Steam has separate keys. GMG keys are NA/RoW while Steam isn't. It could be linked to Steam keys only.

I take it that no one knows for sure if GMG gaming keys will get people the Ripper 2.0? I would like to have it, but it obviously isn't a must.

GMG staff have claimed its a steam exclusive

I guess we will find out in 3 hours, who gives a crap anyway?

I think it would be badarse to start out with the ripper. That way I won't have to stomp zombie asses with just a small kitchen knife or an Oar. I'd mess ♥♥♥♥ up. :D

From what I understand, the Ripper 2.0 is not included in the pre-order from GMG for some reason. I got the same thing. We get the DLC when it's released, but no Ripper 2.0. I'm cool, free DLC is worth it for me, especially with what I payed for it.

Yeah. But even if it didn't come with any of the DLC, it is still a great deal. With the coupon codes and trading in those free games GMG gave out awhile back, I got Dead Island for $22.

The quality or attractiveness of Gamestop isn't even at issue.

What has been demonstrated is that Green Man Gaming's claim that the Ripper is a "Steam exclusive" is not correct, because we have at least one non-Steam retailer selling Steam keys that claim to include it.

For GMG people, you will get the ripper when you get the DLC in 1 month. I know I read this somewhere, I just can't remember where. I think, lol.

This is on the GMG page:

This game requires Steam(TM) in order to install and run and so cannot be traded or refunded.

Pre-purchase Dead Island from Green Man Gaming and you will receive the Bloodbath Arena DLC for free when it becomes available (scheduled for release one month after the game's release).

Blood Bath DLC Features:

4 deadly and hazardous Arenas with endless waves of zombies

Play in single or co-op multiplayer!

Loot XP and items and bring them over into your campaign

Leaderboard to challenge your friends

New gruesome weapon: Sonic Pulse Grenade

From what I can tell, and for reasons I don't understand, GMG pre-purchasers will never get the Ripper 2.0, although the Ripper 1.0 is something that blueprints can be found for in-game.

My only theory for this so far is that GMG didn't have real pre-purchase codes. Perhaps their codes were just regular non pre-purchase codes and they are going to be sending an unlock code via email for the arena DLC later when it comes available. That's my only guess as to why the GMG purchases lost out on the full pre-purchase content.

I don't see anything that indicates GMG purchasers will EVER get the Ripper 2.0.

I just started the game and it notified me and a window popped up that said that new downloadable content was available "Ripper". I went to the additional content screen and it lists Ripper weapon as "UNLOCKED". So, I guess GMG gamers got it after all.

Got the Ripper here and my purchase was from GMG. I wasn't expecting that.

Yeah, it's weird that it unlocked under "Extras" on main menu. If you right click on game (Steam) and check DLC tab, it isn't there. I'm assuming Steam downloaded the files for it when we preloaded. Maybe we aren't suppose to have it after all and it can potentially get removed.

It doesn't unlock for me and I purchased my game from GMG. I activated my DLC Code and still don't have the Ripper blueprints.
