mouse bug in mission 2

I started mission 2 yesterday and now my savegames are ♥♥♥♥ed. Whenever I load the mouse doesn't work anymore.

I tried starting it again from scratch, but the same bug happens if I save/load at the beginning of the mission!

windows 7/64 bits....

now this is taking the piss. Not only the save/load doesn't work, but the game crashes near the end of a verrrry long mission....
