It's just that it doesn't feel like a beta. Or if this here is supposed to be a beta, frankly it's probably the worst I've ever seen.
To me it plays like something in development, but nowhere near a game that is one week from release.
And I have checked the Tripwire forums.

i have done everything that Tripwire and RO players have recommended on these forums to improve things and behold i now have a playable game instead of crash city....there are problems but nothing that cant be sorted....i have waited for a long time for this game to arrive...i can wait a little longer.

Then you didn't buy Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Witcher 2, Brink, Call of Duty, Stalker and tons of other games?

I have played games that were far more buggy after their release, and then patched up later. In this case it is not even released yet but still on Beta stage. So I am confident about this game

This doesn't work at all. Shadows were on medium by default for me, and AA was on. Every time the map changes, it crashes. I tried putting shadows onto high, and it still crashes.

I don't want to repeat same things like an idiot but these crashes are not about graphical problems.
They are mostly memory issues and it's not about the lack of memory. It's game's memory leaks or something. So adjusting video options won't solve these problems.
Just be patient 2-3 days and they will be solved before release.

Makes you wonder why TW didnt release the demo before taking peoples money. Now we are possibly stuck with a $40 lemon. guess they are no diffrent to EA or Activision.
Thunderstruk?

I got most of the games mentioned, and plenty more, and the only time I had a worse experience than this here is when I initially got Steam forced upon me by Empire Total War, took me literally a month to get that game and Steam running.
Though ever since Steam and the games purchased via Steam work fine.
RO2 doesn't, and personally I suspect it's something that won't be fixed until release.
Edit : After arranging ini file it works more or less ok now (still get this rainbow stripe at the bottom, but at least i managed to not crash on barracks for the first time)

BRINK is now rubbish after 4 months,
STALKER has the same millions of bugs after years 4 years,
Fallout was unplayable (was going mad) with crashes on release,
Oblivion have many issues still, lots of bugs here in 2011, but it also have been a playable game with less issues after 2-3 years
Witcher 2 had a sector that which you can not go forward from there and they have released a day 1 patch for this.
And Red Orchestra 2 is not out yet.

I dunno ... last night, in addition to the usual plethora of CTD's, I had to effectively CTD myself with cntrl-alt-delete because during a semi-auto reload my soldier just kept working the bolt back and forth as if he were spanking the monkey.

I seriously hope they are smart enough to delay the game again, there are still a massive amount of bugs/glitch/engine issues out there, they'd possibly ruin the game if they didn't. Sad thing is this game is releasing on the 17th of September, delay please.

Not that I'm defending buggy releases, but Tripwire has a good track record so I have faith things will get sorted out. Maybe not for launch, but still.

Hell just look around at current releases backed by larger companies so far. Seems par for course, and even better considering this isn't an extremely large company with a lot of budget for commercials and the like. No really, just go look at games released this week and tell me this is the ♥♥♥♥tiest release you've seen. I'd really like to see how what I've seen coming out of them is in any way better than what Tripwire's doing.

Don't be an idiot, the computer isn't whats causing the CTDs.

I can't stay in a game more than 2 minutes without crashing. I'm giving up on the BETA and will just wait till the game goes live and hopefully the bugs will be ironed out :)

All the guys saying TWI should just release the game buggy because big publishers do are probably the same ones badmouthing said big publishers for releasing buggy games. What's good for the goose is good for the gander and, besides, TWI should try and rise above it. I'd guess that would certainly score points with both reviewers and with word-of-mouth customrs.

Reviews can make or break this game, and reviewers will only look at the finished product, not the product 3 months after release. Much as I would hate to see it delayed, if they don't clear up the biggest problems (crashes, glitches, etc), they should keep the beta going until they are fairly confident they have it covered for the vast majority of users.

I don't really rage. It's just that most games I get months (years?) after release, so usually all runs well, RO2 had me interested enough to actually preorder it.
Should I rage now?

The main thing that causes most people to keep crashing is because they have their graphics settings set way too high.
I was never having any crash issues through the entire beta testing until last week when I tried to bump my graphics up a little higher and then as soon as a map loaded, I'd crash. It wasn't related to the texture, character or model details being set to ultra, it was mostly the FX added on top. They either need to be lowered or taken off completely for some systems.
I dropped my graphics back down a bit and the crashing stopped.
Tweak with your video settings and see what happens.

This is a understatement.
The problems people are having with crashing is as varied as there are computers playing the game. Everyone's problem seems to be dif from the next.
Broken graphic
Broken Net Code
Broken Prone
Broken movement
Broken Class balance
Broken on, and on, and on.
And most important.
Broken RO community.
If this thing comes out on the 13th like this, it's going to be broken contract with Steam.
