I want to get Skyrim on PC, but I have a laptop with these specs...

Intel Core i5 240m @ 2.4ghz.
3Gb RAM
ATI Radeon 5650M 1GB graphics card.

I'd like to play it at at least 1600x900, preferably medium-high details, but I don't know if this is possible.

Is is worth me getting this on PC? Or should I play it safe and get the Xbox one?

Thanks

You will definitely be able to at least run the game which is more than enough of a reason to get the PC version over the crapbox.

I doubt you will be seeing high details with that GPU. I would expect low with some medium.

I am generally unfamiliar with mobility cards though as gaming laptops tend to be overpriced pieces of ♥♥♥♥.

I have a similar notebook (i5 cpu, 4gb ram, gpu Ati 5650 OC to 630/880Mhz 1gb Vram), but I doubt this game will run well on it even in 1366x768, let alone in 1600x900. I think Skyrim will require a very powerful GPU and probably quadcore CPU.

But I hope I'm proven to be mistaken :-P

I'd Say it Would be fine for 60 FPS on Medium settings.

But It never hurts to be Safe You Could get it Locally somewhere that has a Good Return Policy and See if it runs decent and If it Doesn't Just return it.

But Really You're probably in the Clear Considering the PS3 is know as the most Graphic Extensive between the Console's which happens to be the Laughable Nvidia 7900 GTX, And with Bethesda saying screw it to the PC Graphics. (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/298610/skyrim-looks-the-same-when-playing-on-pc-and-console-bethesda/)

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim looks so good on Xbox 360 (and presumably PS3) that the studio is aiming for minimal visual difference between console versions and the PC counterpart.

And Their Also Developing Mainly for Consoles (http://www.vg247.com/2011/06/08/console-version-of-skyrim-bethesdas-lead-sku/)

Console version of Skyrim Bethesda’s “lead SKU”

It will probably require a dual-core to reach a wider audience.

Graphics card wise, will probably require late 7000 or medium 8000 series (Nvidia).

Can an i7-620m, Nvidia 310m , 4 gbs of ram run this game? I don't need it to run on anything high. Just low graphics and at 1366 x 768. I wouldn't mind dropping it to 1280 x 720.

Theres no way in hell a 5650M is going to put out 60FPS average on medium at 1600x900.

That card gets 11 FPS on Just Cause 2 maxed out at 1366x768.

Then again what are you expecting from someone who capitalizes every other word.

Thanks For The English Tip Professor.

Did You Even Read the Link's Or Quote's?

It's Designed Mainly For Consoles, Thus High Settings For The PC Are Basically Equivalent to The Consoles At Best.

FYI "Theres" Is Spelled "There's".

Maybe, You Should Stop Nitpicking and Get Back To Class.

You'd probably be able to play it on at least low settings. My laptop can barely run Deus Ex HR (2 ghz dual-core, 4GB RAM and a NVidia 9600M GT 1GB, 1366x768), while my PC runs it at pretty high settings.

Maybe you should lower your settings for Just Cause 2. although Just Cause 2 is a pretty heavy game, but really well optimized for PC (64-bit, multi-core, 3D, DX10), except for the driving, which really requires a controller.

You actually think consoles run on high settings? Lmao. They run on low/medium at 720p (sometimes even lower) resolutions and STILL only put out 30FPS. Believe me when I say they have been squeezing consoles for a long time.

0 or 2x AA =/= High settings.
Low shadows =/= High settings.
Low texture resolution =/= High settings.
20 meter draw distance on foliage =/= High settings.

I dont have the card in question, im posting benchmark results to show that the card is very much low end.

You can tell that just by the GPUs name.

First digit is the generation while the second digit shows the level of card. 9 is for special configurations, 8 is high end gaming and 7 is entry level gaming. This dude has a 6 AND its a mobility card. Anyone who thinks this card is getting 60FPS on medium is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

If you have an ATi/AMD card and the second digit is a 6 or lower then your card wasnt even built for gaming.

Really? I get 20-30 on JC2 1600x900, high on the settings, except in the intense parts where it drops to around 10.

So in summary, it'll be playable, as long as I sacrifice some visual fidelity, yes?
