I don't get it, the ending that is....

Is the story supposed to be completely confusing and make no sense? I beat the game and it just starts all over. I only got one of the gate spells to boot. I somehow think playing through it 3 more times is not going to make the story make any more sense.

The ending I got had the master, the commander, and some other dude in the same place the game starts at. I walked through the portal and I was back in the tunnel from the first part of the game......

It kind of feels like I have wasted the entire day playing it..........I don't think I will buy another french game again for a long time to come. I am guessing the plot is some kind of inside joke you have to be french to understand.

Well, it's not because it's french (it has nothing to do with it, besides I know a lot french games that have great plot).

It's because the story is extremely poorly delivered, and most probably translated with Google Translator.

Wait for the Text Revamp mod that is in the works. I don't even dare to play it again until the texts have been fixed.

Poorly delivered is an understatement. I can't fault the gameplay, its very open and free, but the story just kills any desire to even play again. I think that movie "The Lost Highway" made more sense.

you have to be very observant, the game isnt going to have a nice little summary about the plot for your brain to understand. you have to have read all the text in the game, especially the ones given by the 3 ladies in white.
If you were observant (and depending on your path) you would see some correlations between the legend and your players 'reality'
there are 4 endings (that we know of) and to get the fourth, you need to have done 3

Edit: it is confusing, and i think that is deliberatly so - it will allow the developers to get deeper into the universe in future titles. i really hope they get a much larger budget, because this IP and style could be extremely effective in a kind of mass effect/elder scrolls cross
