Lag Spikes fixes?

So it seems with this game alone (Can run any other game fine) I suffer from considerable lag spikes that make at the very least multiplayer unplayable. If anyone knows any fixes, tweaks, or advice that could help optimize it would be much appreciated

Set up:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
AMD Phenom II x4 (3.3Ghz)
ATI Radeon HD 5600
4GB RAM
DirectX 11

All drivers are fully updated as well.

If you have a modem+router, try connecting direct to modem, bypassing router, just to make sure it's not the problem.

Thank you guys for the suggestions/links. Only one I hadn't tried yet is turning off the router (though it is plugged in directly maybe it's existence alone is causing some slowdowns)

If anyone else has anything to add its more then welcome
