now i know this is not an overheating issue this has to be a game problem because i can play for hours up until i throw a molotov then my pc instantly shutsdown. it happens on all graphic levels and my pc can handle all graphic levels. also it happens when i enter the mechanics place where you have to reinforce the armoured car. i know this a game problem because i can play the likes of napoleon tw, l4d2, dragon age origins2 and few other latest games i have and none of these have this problem and i run these with most high settings. while playing the game my cpu temp ive seen hit 45-50c max and my gfx card hit 70-75c max all my drivers are up to date, my specs are
intel core 2 duo e8400 wolfdale
ati 4890 saphire
4gig ddr2 twinz 800mhz
700watt power supply atx-700-jsp
satta 2 hd 1tb
os windows 7 x86
and 4 fans inside total including processor and gfx card
this is shame really beacuse it is ruining this game for me and i dont think its a hardware problem? if any 1 could help i would be appreciated

if it's that reliably reproduce-able.. i'd like to know if the same thing happens if you run the game in window mode...

ive uninstalled the game going to try and reinstall it see if that does any thing , then i will try running in windowed mode but i still think this is an issue with the game still being in early release. FAIL

There's no windowed mode in Dead Island.
And as for OP, I would suggest upgrading your processor and motherboard. DDR2 RAM is quite out of date, and a dual core processor isn't the best. I recently upgraded my computer from pretty much what you have. I had a dual core and DDR2 RAM, but I had a ATI 6850 card.
As for throwing a molotov, it's probably a corrupt file in your game code. Defrag and verify the integrity of your game cache. It'll probably fix it.

Can I ask, what make is your Power Supply?
The reason I ask is that I have had my PC do this in the past because I had a no-namer power supply, and although my PC ran older games and AutoCAD fine, new AAA titles caused it to shut down because of the increased power draw which the PSU could not supply.

i doubt it's his power supply.. 700 watt should be sufficient + he doesn't even have SLI or XFire according to what he said..
@Missychrissy: his hardware sure ain't top notch.. but on the other hand.. this title doesn't require a high end rig either..
got the same cpu he got.. and the game runs as smooth as it can be.

i seemed to have solved 1 issue in the mechanic garage im now lvl 22 in the city. i downloaded the tweeking tool enabled vsync , simple shadows
disabled weapon refraction
desaturation effect
dust effect
an reduced bloom i also reduced my gpu clock settings and memory clock settings to a lower mhz , havent crashed yet but still aint risked throwing a molotov . also this tweek tool puts cpu priority to normal for the game?? so in this is a solution i imagine.
