I'm experiencing quite a lag in that stage. That's not supposed to happen on my i5 / GTX560 / 8 gigs ram machine, is it?

Yeah, it pretty dire. Even the couple of levels before that don't run right (or the ones after).
I emailed them about it after they kindly sent codes out to people who'd purchased it before (I actually specifically mentioned the Arachnophobia level as well).
2600k here with a GTX480. A couple of mates also have the same issue, one with a 260, the other with a 570, all various i7 systems.
Hope it gets sorted.

I just bought the game and noticed the same thing. Weird thing is that if I play the first challenge level it doesn't seem as bad though it still doesn't stay at a steady 60 fps. I haven't made it past the second stage of the first level in adventure mode but the first two stages are stuttering while I move back and forth.
I believe my fps is usually between 50-60 on the training grounds stages and 55-60 on the first challenge level. It's playable but with the computer specs listed below I'd expect it to stay locked at 60.
My Specs:
Core i5 2500K @ 3.3 GHz/3.7 GHz Turbo
8 GB G.Skill DDR 3 1600 MHz
Asus GTX 460 1 GB
Auzentech X-Fi Forte
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit Service Pack 2
*edit* - Ok now I'm seeing what the above posters mentioned.. I made it to the third stage (sorry I don't know the names) of the training grounds and the framerate on that level (according to MSI Afterburner) is 28-30 constantly.

What resolution and AA settings are you guys running the game at?

I'm running at 1680x1050 and 4x AA right now I think. I'll try again later today (about to go to bed) but when I changed anti-aliasing between none, 2x and 4x it didn't seem to have any affect on the fps I was getting.

Thanks for the feedback zeratulx. If you have a spare minute, can you run the game at 1280x720 and let me know how that goes?

Hi,
I normally run at 1920x1080, but tried the following:
1280x720, minimum particles, glare disabled, no AA, nVidia drivers at default settings.
Runs exactly the same as if I was at 1920x1080 with all the settings on full - low, stuttering framerate. The graphical settings don't seem to make any difference to performance.
As mentioned in my post above, my other friends on Steam who have a copy suffer exactly the same low performance. All i7 Win7 systems, all with nVidia cards.

This is what happened when I tried that as well.. I played the game again really quick before I went to bed earlier and even at the lower resolution it still had framerate issues.
I noticed also that if I play on easy mode the framerate appears to be worse because of the border/shield thingy around each level. If I play on hard or the challenge level which doesn't have that the framerate is a bit better but still drops frequently from the particle effects, etc. I believe.
