I THOUGHT rage was aswell? i swear its been hyped with open world exploration and rpg elements I kind of envisioned fallout 3 with awesome graphics...but 15h ? is this a joke?

Rage is a first person shooter, not an RPG.

RPGs can be long because they have big open worlds, where you spend a lot of time in one single area, before moving on to the next.

Story driven first person shooters are more linear and allow you to go from one place to the next in a more controlled, specific fashion.

15 hours is pretty long for a first person shooter these days. You should compare this to something like Half-Life 2 or Bioshock, instead of Action RPGs.

Also, the time predicted by the developer may not reflect your playing style. I think a lot of people finished Deus Ex in far under 30 hours, for example. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you. It just means you take your time, which is something you'll likely be able to do with Rage too.

Canceled my pre order im not paying $60 for a 15h game, ill wait till its $30 or less.

I was expecting an FPS/RPG as well and was just about to purchase the anarchy edition.

Why cancel a pre-order just because it is a FPS and not an RPG. If you pre-ordered it then you must of wanted to play it in the first place. 15hrs is long and surely they'll be more to do then just the main story like secrets and hidden easter eggs.

well, even though this game is FPS, there are few RPG element in game. for example, the modification (or upgrade) of weapons, armor or something. yeah, it's almost 90% sure. FPS. but hey, there is a fun part in game. desert racing is third person view, then you can shoot enemies, blow them up. car will be flying over the air.

In everyone's defense here, tangible details about your character (inventory management, crafting, etc) have been kind of scarce, and given some of the trailers and the focus on some of this custom weaponry, it's easy to imagine it might have been an RPG.

Still, I do wonder at the playtime. Some games I get through really quickly as the devs exaggerate the playtime, while others I blow past as I take everything in slowly. There's going to be some degree of exploration and sidequests but not much grinding or artificially difficult enemies with enough HP to survive a dozen headshots.

Now, TESV... that's a game I need to know more about. Still on the fence, really. But that's a different forum.

I really don't know how BF3 is any more RPG than this. Plus they've mentioned it a few times that RAGE will have RPG elements, like the weapon customization and different equipment like armor.

I think you are taking too far, he just wanted to know what type of game it was. The same thing happens to the others who confused Fallout 3 to be sorely a FPS. I, am looking forward to this game, and I play most of my games to the max (Meaning I enjoy it, take side quest, etc.) but I do agree that 15 hours for a single player focused game only is a little short. Especially for the price, but they do go down pretty quick.

Am sure this game will be good regardless. At least, I hope it is.

The game has some RPG elements, but it's mostly FPS gameplay with 3rd person 'battle' racing. I remember the early videos and interviews for RAGE; they made it look like a 'battle' racing game, not an FPS. Foulplay probably described it best - it's probably going to be reminiscent of Borderlands.

ugh, kids and their "ooo what's in my inventory" RPGs... only thing I want in my inventory is AMMO. I miss the days when RPGs stayed on their own side of the tracks and our days were filled killing Shamblers.

Oh ya sure.. ID software has always given armor choices... Red, Green, and Yellow :)

RPG elements hurt Far Cry 2, Original Farcry was better. Personally, the less RPG elements, the better; only need more gibbage.

What happened to the happy FPS days of the Columbine Era. Sponge Bob has screwed us all......
